Summer decided to head outside to check the situation.
Silas proactively followed her. "I'll come with you. I can explain things so Mr. Sterling doesn't misunderstand you."
When Summer stepped out, Xavier was just about to leave.
He felt like an absolute idiot for standing out there waiting for so long.
But just at that moment, Summer appeared.
Her expression was a mask of indifference. "What are you doing here?"
Xavier had been bottling up a stomach full of rage, and his tone was hostile. "What do you think? Am I not allowed to attend my own son's birthday party?"
Silas interjected apologetically, "I'm sorry, Mr. Sterling. This is my fault. Please don't snap at Summer. I was so busy greeting guests that I forgot to tell her you were here. If you're going to blame anyone, blame me. But surely, a man of your stature isn't that petty."
Silas didn't sound apologetic in the slightest. He was doing this on purpose!
At his own son's birthday party, Silas—his greatest rival—was acting like the host of the event, deliberately making things difficult for the biological father.
Xavier couldn't swallow this humiliation!
His gaze turned predatory, and he let out a cold laugh. "Silas Sinclair, is it fun picking up someone else's leftovers?"
Summer's eyes flashed with icy fury, but her lips curled into a sweet smile. "Lilith, your husband is asking you a question. Is it fun picking up someone else's leftovers?"
"Summer!" The veins on Xavier's forehead throbbed with rage.
Summer looked at him with sheer disdain. "It doesn't look like you're genuinely here to wish Leo a happy birthday. Please leave."
"Summer!" Xavier snapped. "I am Leo's father. You cannot stop me from seeing him."
"Then come in." Summer turned away dismissively.
Silas gave the security guard a subtle nod, and the guard let them pass.
Entering the banquet hall, Summer casually pointed toward the very back. "Mr. Sterling, since your arrival was unexpected, we didn't arrange a seat for you. You and your family will have to make do at this table."
Xavier scoffed. "The last table?"
When had he ever suffered such an insult?
At every banquet he had ever attended, he was always seated at the head table.
