Summer flipped through a document while replying, "Silas said it wasn't him. You must have made a mistake, Dad."
"I think it's the Sterling family. Lilith offended them, so they're going after Zenith Tech."
Bennett panicked. "It's not the Sterlings. Summer, please just talk to Mr. Sinclair!"
Summer replied helplessly, "But I already asked him, and he said no. What else do you want me to do?"
"Dad," Summer continued, her tone entirely sincere, "I really think it's the Sterlings. Why don't you try stripping Lilith of her CEO title?"
"Just like what happened with the Sutton Group. As soon as her acting CEO title was revoked, didn't the Sterlings immediately come back begging to cooperate?"
Bennett wanted to, but Lilith held Lydia's shares.
He was terrified that if he pushed Lilith over the edge, she would sell her shares to Dexter Whitmore, effectively handing over control of the Sutton Group entirely.
Before Bennett could say anything else, Summer made an excuse and hung up.
Did he really think she'd play the peacemaker and let Lilith and Zenith Tech off the hook? She wasn't an idiot.
Let Bennett and Lilith sweat it out on their own.
Staring at the disconnected call, Bennett thought for a moment and drove straight to Silas's office.
He arrogantly assumed that being Summer's father guaranteed him an audience.
Silas completely refused to see him.
Bennett glared at the receptionist in disbelief. "Did you tell him who I am? I am Bennett Sutton, Summer Vance's father, and the head of the Sutton Group!"
The receptionist maintained a polite smile. "I apologize, Mr. Sutton, but meeting Mr. Sinclair requires a prior appointment."
Left with no choice, Bennett repeatedly called Summer, but his three consecutive calls went completely unanswered. He was sick with anxiety.
Meanwhile, Lilith went to find Xavier.
The maid looked at her apologetically. "I'm sorry, Ms. Sutton. Mr. Sterling hasn't woken up yet."
The address 'Ms. Sutton' struck a raw nerve. "Martha," Lilith snapped coldly, "are your eyes going bad with age?"
"Ms. Sutton? Let me make this clear: As long as Xavier and I haven't legally finalized our divorce, I am Mrs. Sterling."
Martha smiled politely. "Of course, whatever you say, Ms. Sutton."
"You—!" Lilith was practically suffocating on her own rage. Taking a deep breath to suppress it, she ordered, "Open the door. I'll go in and find him myself."
Martha shook her head. "I apologize, Ms. Sutton. I cannot let you in without Mr. Sterling's permission. He will be furious."
Martha's constant repetition of 'Ms. Sutton' felt incredibly jarring, as if she were mocking Lilith for failing to grasp reality while still clinging to her delusional title.
Lilith desperately wanted to rip Martha's mouth off.
Who did she think she was? Just a lowly maid.
