"Are we done hitting?"
Lilith Sutton wouldn't dare raise a hand now; her entire body ran cold, yet her heart seethed with a volcanic, boiling rage.
Torn between that icy dread and scorching fury, the torment twisted her expression into something uniquely hideous.
She shot Summer Vance a vicious glare before whipping her head toward Bennett Sutton, venting all her wrath onto him.
"Bennett, if you dare give Summer those companies and leave me with nothing, I'll sell every last one of my shares to Dexter Whitmore. Try me and see."
Being threatened by his own biological daughter, who had just screamed his full name to his face, was a profound humiliation Bennett had never experienced, leaving his cheeks burning with shame.
His face darkened as he snapped, "Lilith, it seems my slap wasn't hard enough. How dare you threaten me."
Lilith gritted her teeth. "You hit me first! Did you forget?"
"Why did I hit you? Where do you think you are? Do you think you can just throw a tantrum and act like a lunatic whenever you please? If you want to act crazy, I should just send you to the sanitarium with your mother. You two can keep each other company."
Lilith's eyes widened in sheer outrage. "Bennett, you're an absolute monster. How could you even say that?"
"Get treated if you're sick," Summer chimed in smoothly. "Bennett is just looking out for you. He wouldn't want you running around out there, offending someone and dragging him down with you."
"Summer!" Lilith shrieked, her eyes bloodshot as she stared Summer down like a vengeful spirit.
She looked as though she wanted to tear Summer apart with her bare hands.
"Bennett, look at Lilith. Doesn't she look like a rabid dog about to snap?"
Lilith knew Summer was doing this on purpose, trying to provoke her.
If she threw the first punch, Summer would have her thrown straight into a jail cell.
She wasn't going to fall for it.
Lilith gritted her teeth so hard her jaw ached, forcibly holding herself back from lunging at Summer.
Summer raised a delicate eyebrow, mildly surprised that Lilith actually had the restraint to hold back.
"Stop yelling," Bennett groaned, rubbing his temples. In that moment, he truly wanted to lock Lilith away in a sanitarium.
Once the mandatory thirty-day cooling-off period for the divorce ended and Lilith finally signed the papers with Xavier Sterling, he would find a way to make her disappear.
Just as Summer said, it was better than leaving her out here to cause trouble and drag him down with her.
"You don't believe me, Bennett? Fine. I'm calling Dexter right now to sell him my shares."
As she spoke, Lilith pulled out her phone and dialed Dexter Whitmore.
"Dexter, are you interested in Sutton Group shares? Good. See you soon."
Hanging up, Lilith stood tall. "I'm going to grab dinner with Dexter right now. Don't come crying to me later."
