Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 517

After returning home, Summer took a long, relaxing bath, drank a bowl of hearty chicken soup lovingly prepared by Leila, and retreated to her study to work.

Bennett had officially handed over Starlight Media and Vitality Healthcare. She had meetings scheduled at both headquarters tomorrow to outline their new corporate strategies.

She had barely started working when her phone buzzed with a call from Tessa Thorne.

Tessa's voice practically vibrated with excitement. "Summer, guess who I just saw? Get it right and there's a prize."

Without missing a beat, Summer guessed, "That jerk, Xavier Sterling?"

"Guess again. You're getting warmer."

Summer leaned back in her chair and smirked. "Lilith, the homewrecking bitch."

"Bingo!" Tessa cheered. "Lilith got into a car wreck and got beaten to a pulp! You should see the state of her. She's completely covered in blood."

Playing along, Summer sighed in mock sympathy. "What a shame."

"As your best friend, I wouldn't let you down. I'm forwarding the hospital group chat photos to you right now."

Chuckling, Summer opened the image. It showed Lilith lying in the back of an ambulance.

She truly looked pathetic. She was drenched in blood, and her face was heavily bruised from the beating.

It looked agonizing just to glance at it.

Tessa continued venting. "My luck is absolute garbage tonight. I was the one assigned to treat her. Before I could even complain about her, she started throwing a fit, demanding a different doctor. I couldn't have been happier. Otherwise, I might not have been able to stop myself from 'accidentally' jabbing her with a few extra needles."

Touched but highly amused, Summer comforted her. "Thanks for putting up with that."

"It wasn't too hard, just incredibly annoying. Oh, wait," Tessa paused, her tone shifting to confusion. "I think I just saw Silas Sinclair."

"Silas?"

Summer suddenly remembered how drenched Silas had been in the rain. He had bragged in the car about how robust his immune system was and how he never got sick.

It couldn't be that coincidental, could it?

Had she actually jinxed him?

Summer asked Tessa to find out what was going on.
