Chapter 184
Lillian’s POV
Torn in half, the bed slumped in the middle, falling. Grayson moved in a flash, grabbing me around the waist and pulling me against him as he stood. He placed my feet on the floor and together we stood there, looking at the state of the bed.
It was a disaster zone.
Grayson glanced at me.
“That bed must have been really old,” I said, trying to use that as an excuse, as weak as it was. I even laughed a little, to try to sell it better.
He continued staring at me, his flat expression not changing. He clearly wasn’t buying my lie, looking like he could see right through me.
“Where did that strength come from?” he asked me.
Nervously, I hooked my fingers together. “I don’t know. It’s only happened in flashes.”
“The training grounds. As I arrived. That destroyed training dummy. That was you.”
“I should have told you,” I said. “But that was the first time it happened. I didn’t think anything of it, really. Is something that happened once even worth talking about?”.
“It is when it’s happening to you,” he said. “And now it’s more than once.”
I lowered my head, feeling shamed.
“I want you to go to the doctor to get checked in the morning,” Grayson said. “Maybe something is happening with your wolf.”
That couldn’t be. “My wolf has always been weak.”
“Nothing else explains these surges,” Grayson said. “Talking to the doctor won’t hurt. Get it checked out.”
When he put it like that, it didn’t sound like I had much choice. “Alright, I will.”
“Good.”
He looked at the ruined bed.
“We’ll have to sleep in another room tonight until the bed can be replaced.” He glanced at me. “But there’s no reason we can’t finish what we started.”
My cheeks burned, but I put a firm hand up between us. “We can’t.”
“Why?” he asked.
I gestured to the bed. “I did that.”
“Yes. It was very attractive.”
My skin burned down my throat now too. “I don’t trust myself. That could have been you. I could have hurt you.”
If I had done that… If I ever did, I would never forgive myself as long as I lived.

Grayson’s brow pulled together. “Lily,” he said plainly. “That wouldn’t happen.”
You don’t know that…”
You
“I do,” he said. “It is not possible for you to hurt me.”
