Surrogate for the Alpha Prince in a Coma novel Chapter 186

Chapter 186

Grayson’s POV

+15 Bonus

The Alpha Minister had a head start, but he was an aging werewolf, while I was in my prime. Even if we had been of similar age, my prowess was unmatched.

I leaped from the back of the overturned cabinet and easily crossed the distance to the back door in a flash. I plowed into the Alpha Minister and we both went tumbling out onto the back patio and then down onto the grass.

Alpha Minister groaned, even as I rolled him over, kneeling beside him, my hand on his throat. I didn’t press hard on his windpipe, still wanting him to be able to speak, but just enough for him to be very aware of my presence and my power. With enough tension, I could easily end his life.

His eyes were wide, looking up at me. Yet as he settled, as the seconds ticked by, that wide-eyed fear shifted into a glower filled with hate.

“Kill me if you must, but you will not stop the inevitable.”

“And what do you believe is so inevitable?” I asked, my voice a low growl, dangerous. Deadly.

“Calvin will come back, and he will take the throne. You have delayed his plans for only a short time.”

His plans? Was Alpha Minister not the mastermind here?

“You have been acting on behalf of your son,” I realized. Not the other way around.

“He has more ambition than I could have ever dreamed of,” the Alpha Minister said, laughing. His throat rumbled under my hand. I only barely resisted the urge to squeeze, to make him stop. I needed him to keep talking. The more he talked, the more likely he was to spill everything that he knew.

“He’s coming for you and your little whore,” Alpha Minister said. “And there’s nothing you can do about it. Things have already been set in motion. It’s too late now, even if you tried.”

I squeezed a little tighter then, not appreciating my mate being insulted.

He continued, even though his voice was now strained. He grinned at me like he had nothing to lose and everything to gain. Maybe that was true.

“If you cared about your kingdom and your family,” he said, “Then you would back off and allow Calvin back into the fold. He has supporters, more than just me. You’d make this easier, and maybe survive, if you let him win.”

“Never,” I growled.
