Lilian’s POV

We had to wait a while in one of the sitting rooms while Grayson went ahead with Prime Beta to ensure everything was in the works for our comfortably living here. A room was being prepared, clothes and toys were being procured. I used the time to compose a few messages to Reginald and my other contacts in the Lycan Kingdom to alert them to what had happened and the change in plans. The kids were tired from what happened, from the excitement of seeing the palace, and now from the late hour, so they were asleep beside me.

It was late by the time Grayson returned with some servants to personally escort us to our new room.

“I can help,” he said, as I started to lift Madison into my arms to carry her to the room. Grayson lifted Alex, and my heart felt full.

I followed him upstairs, curious as he seemed to be leading us to the familiar royal family wing rather than the guest wing where members of the court had residence. Typically any foreign ambassadors were also given room there.

Even with five years having passed, I remembered these hallways, knowing we were heading toward the room I shared with Grayson before we even reached the stairwell.

“Grayson…” I whispered, feeling anxious. Surely he didn’t expect us to move into his rooms.

“Don’t fret,” he told me. We stepped off of the stairs and into the hallway. Grayson’s door was right there. But we kept walking, moving past it to the next door down the hallway, the room beside Grayson’s. “Here.”

One of the servants opened the door and we went inside. The set of three rooms was large. The main room had a seating area and a small table. The two other rooms were a pair of bedrooms, each with their own bathroom attached. Grayson carried Alex into one of those bedrooms, where a pair of twin beds had been set up. He lowered Alex down on one of them. I moved and placed Madison down on the other.

He stepped out of the room, while I woke the children enough just to change into the sleeping clothes that had been laid out for them. They fell back asleep quickly, under the covers. Leaving the room, I gently closed the door

behind me.

I had thought Grayson would be waiting for me in the main room, but he was gone. Everyone was. I went to the door and locked it, then went into the other bedroom. A nightgown had been left out for me as well. Picking it up, I recognized it as one of my old ones that I had left behind after I left. It had been properly laundered and maintained and made my heart ache.
