Surrogate for the Alpha Prince in a Coma novel Chapter 240

Chapter 240

lian’s POV

Most of the court members never respected me, but having left and come back as a Lycan Ambassador had frayed that respect even further. While I doubted anyone actually knew anything about Teacher, they seemed as if they wouldn’t tell me if they did.

This made it difficult to progress in finding him. The one benefit about living in the palace, I had thought, would be the ability to utilize more potential sources and leads. Teacher had spent a lot of time here. He must have made connections.

Yet, as I received rejection after rejection from my requests to meet with court members, I started to realize, these people were not the ones Teacher would have interacted with, at least beyond a superficial level. Yes, he had been the Royal Instructor and had trained many of them in basic combat abilities and exercise, but that wouldn’t make them trustworthy friends. Certainly not people to divulge secrets with.

Instead, I turned my attention toward the soldiers and guards. Teacher was a warrior at heart, and in his long life had endured much fighting in war and skirmishes. In that way, he’d be more likely to relate to fellow warriors, those who might have shared experiences.

Many of the guards ignored me, but one, who I remembered from before I left the palace, was friendlier than the rest, the kind of man that Teacher would like.

“We were drinking buddies,” the guard said. “I swear he made friends with everyone at the bar. Couldn’t take the guy anywhere before he knew everyone’s life story in the whole room.”

“Do you have any idea where he could have gone?” I asked.

“I’m sorry, but no,” the guard told me. “All that talking, and he so rarely said anything about himself. He was partial to one of the older werewolves though. They seemed to way back. Her name’s Gloria. She’s a bit of a barfly, but nice. Been around a long time, seen a lot.”

“Do you know where I can find her?”

“Actually, I-do,” the guard said. “Lone Archer put her up in an apartment. She was having a hard time of it, and was sleeping in the bar. He asked me to check on her. I do, once in a while. She’s been alright. I think she reconnected with her grandkids, gave up drinking.”

“Would you be willing to give me that address?” I asked. “She might have more information.”
