Surrogate for the Alpha Prince in a Coma novel Chapter 241

Chapter 241

Thank you,” I said, and entered.

“I already have the kettle on the stove.”

I followed Gloria into her kitchen. The apartment was small but clean and bright. Plants were everywhere, everything smelled bright and fresh. In the kitchen, the kettle started to whistle.

“Would you mind, Lillian? I need to rest my old bones.”

She moved to sit down at the table while I hurried to tend the water and prepare the tea.

“I met Lone Archer as a young girl. Oh, he had a different name then, I think he like the dramatics of a title. It’s funny how he was so much older than me then and now, but time has only caught up to me. When I saw him again, I joked that he must have made a deal with the Moon Goddess for his youth, but he didn’t laugh. Poorman.”

“I knew him when I was a child as well. I was surprised when I saw him again that he hadn’t changed. Do you know how it’s possible that he hasn’t aged?”

“I don’t,” Gloria said. “But I’ve had… thoughts… about it.”

I brought the cups and the teapot over to the table. “What kind of thoughts?”

“What if he’s one of the originals? All the stories about the first werewolves, granted the gifts by the touch of the Moon Goddess. That would explain his long life, his youth, his warrior prowess.”

That seemed farfetched, like a fantasy from a children’s book. But the Teacher himself was proof of something beyond understanding. The Legendary Warrior who didn’t age. Any explanation could be possible. Why not this one?

“With a life as long lived as his, I imagine time moves very quickly. It’s possible he doesn’t even realize he’s gone as long as he is, until he returns and finds us all aged. It must be terribly lonely.” Gloria sipped her tea. “I wish I could tell you where he was. Truly, I do. But, with him, I’ve noticed he always arrives when he’s needed. Though when he’s not, he disappears again.”

“I’ve noticed that too,” I said, remembering my youth, when Teacher had seemingly appeared out of nowhere to

train me.

“With that in mind, it’s likely that he is aware of the shapeshifter war,” Gloria said. “If he feels he is needed, I’m sure he will appear on his own.”

I wished I could share her faith. But I needed to know for sure.

The whole war could be turned with Teacher’s presence. I couldn’t just sit back and pray he’d do the right thing and appear.
