Chapter 334

Lillian’s POV
“I’m friends with the servants and the maids. I’m sure if I reached out, they would agree to help,” I said. “I’ll disguise myself as a maid and go into the palace. I can work undercover until the time comes to –
“Absolutely not,” Grayson said.
“The coronation is in two days,” I said. “I’d only need to stay hidden for a day.”
“No,” Grayson said firmly. “You will not be risking your life in that way. You will sneak into the palace at my side.”
“And who will let you in?”
“You have friends among the servants. One of them can assist us.”
“So you’d want me to ask and endanger an innocent? Didn’t you just say that you want to minimalize the casualties? What if she is found out?”
“What if you are found out?”
“I am no more important than anyone else. In fact, I would prefer it was me, since I know the dangers.”
Grayson’s jaw locked. “The answer is no, Lily. You are not doing this.”
“Yes, I am,” I said.
The advisors stilled. Grayson was the prince, the leader, and it was wrong to push back against him so firmly, especially when he was giving a direct order. But I knew this order wasn’t coming from a sensible place. His care for me was keeping him from seeing this logically. The Alpha desire to protect his mate was overwhelming his
senses.
“Leave us,” Grayson growled, commanding the others in the tent.
They wasted no time in obeying, quickly abandoning the room until only the two of us, Grayson and me, faced off against each other.
“Grayson,” I said softly. “You know I have to do this. It’s the best plan, and I’m the best choice to go in before the rest. You can trust me -”
“It’s not about trust,” he said, his voice barely concealing a growl. “There’s no one I trust more than you.”
