Chapter 11

Clive did not dodge. His fists, wrapped in shadow energy and flickering with violet–black lightning, slammed into the newly formed Flame Wall like a heavy battering ram.
There was no skill behind his attack, only overwhelming brute force and a reckless kind of madness. He didn’t even care whether he got burned in the process.
The Flame Wall shook violently under the impact, sending sparks spraying through the air.
Cassian let out a muffled groan and staggered backward. The sheer force caught him off guard, and the cold darkness hidden inside the attack actually caused his flames to falter for an instant.
Then Clive forced his way straight, through the Flame Wall without slowing down, his figure tearing through the flames like a phantom.
“That’s shadow–type?” Cassian’s eyes narrowed.
He immediately scanned the area in alarm as flames curled around his body and formed a protective shield.
The next second, Clive emerged directly from Cassian’s shadow. A dark shadow blade swept silently toward the back of Cassian’s neck.
The strike was fast, precise, and vicious, carrying overwhelming killing intent.
Cassian was a Level–5 supernatural ability user, and his reflexes were extremely sharp. His flame shield instantly expanded and blocked the blade while he countered with a blast of scorching fire aimed straight at Clive’s face.
Clive still didn’t move out of the way, Instead, he raised an arm wrapped in shadow energy and took the attack head–on.
The fire exploded against him and forced him several steps backward. The sleeve of his combat suit was burned black, and sharp pain from scorched flesh spread through his arm.
However, Clive acted as if he couldn’t feel the pain at all. The moment he regained his footing, he spread his fingers, and a thin bolt of dark violet lightning shot out like a venomous snake
It was barely thicker than a thumb, yet it found a special angle, avoiding the strongest part of the flame shield before striking Cassian directly beneath the ribs.
The speed was far beyond Cassian’s expectations.

Cassian grunted as intense pain and numbness burst through his side, and the flame shield around him wavered for a brief
moment.
A chill ran through him as he thought, The power and control of the lightning isn’t normal.
“He has dual–type supernatural abilities?” Cassian finally realized something was seriously wrong.
But Clive gave Cassian no chance to react.
Clive gave up almost all defense and pushed both abilities to their limits, combining the strange, elusive nature of shadow energy with the violent speed of lightning
He moved like a ghost flickering between darkness and blinding light. One moment, he vanished into the shadows and attacked from impossible angles.

then, he exploded forward in a flash of lightning and launched a brutal frontal assault.
Every strike targeted a vital point with ruthless precision. He didn’t defend or dodge. He only cared about tearing his opponent down.
Cassian’s Leve–5 supernatural ability had been built up by his family with piles of crystal cores. He had never faced someone like Clive, someone who had clawed his way up from the very bottom of the black market, where every move was meant to kill
Good thing Clive was only at Pinnacle Rank 4. Otherwise Cassian might actually die here tonight.
What scared Cassian even more was Clive’s eyes.
In those dark pupils, there was no fear of a stronger opponent and no pain from his injuries. There was only a cold, burning madness, fueled by some obsession Cassian could not understand.
“You’re seriously insane.” Cassian dodged a lethal strike in a sorry state.
A shadow blade skimmed past his cheek, leaving a fresh line of blood across his face.
Cassian shouted, “I never even did anything to hurt you.”
Clive ignored Cassian’s shouting and remained silent. He only attacked again and again.
He seized the brief opening after Cassian launched a burst of flame. He took a fire whip from the side head–on, and the smell of burned flesh rose from his torn shoulder, but his whole body shot toward Cassian like a cannonball.
The dark shadow blade in his right hand drove viciously toward Cassian’s abdomen. At the same time, his left hand, wrapped in snapping high–voltage lightning, pressed mercilessly against Cassian’s face, which always wore that fake smile.
Cassian’s scream ripped through the night
The high–voltage current brought more than pain. It came with brutal numbness and a crushing sense of humiliation.
Cassian’s hair stood on end from the shock. His face was scorched black, and his expensive clothes were shredded by the shadow blade and lightning until they looked worse than rags. His bruised, swollen, and burned skin underneath was exposed.
Clive threw Cassian to the ground like a piece of trash. Cassian had completely lost the ability to fight back. He lay there limp and twitching.
Clive looked down at the man who had once stood so high above everyone else, the man who had treated Dora like she was nothing but trouble. Then, Clive slowly crouched.
Under Cassian’s terrified stare, Clive reached out. He didn’t attack this time. Instead, he grabbed the fine but ruined fabric still hanging from Cassian’s body.
The next second, the sound of cloth tearing was painfully clear in the silent alley.
With his bare hands. Clive ripped apart the last scraps of clothing that still carried Dora’s scent, leaving Cassian with nothing
but his underwear.
Then Clive stood up, nudged Cassian with his boot like he was dead, and said in an icy voice, “Don’t ever think about wearing it again. You don’t deserve it.”
After saying those words, Clive didn’t spare Cassian another look. He turned away, and his figure melted back into the darkness, disappearing as silently as he had come.

His wound was nothing compared to the life–or–death fights he had survived in the black market.
He only felt that the heavy knot in his chest, the one that had been building for four years and was tangled with shame, anger, and bitterness, had finally loosened a little after tonight’s satisfying beatdown of that jerk
The night Clive disappeared four years ago, he had left with more than heartbroken. He had also carried away a vicious fire in his gut, all aimed at Cassian, the man who had taken up space in Dora’s heart.
On the way back to the Blackflame base, only two thoughts remained in Clive’s head: He had to get stronger. He had to make Blackflame stronger with him.
Over the past four years, Clive had welded his name back onto the throne of power in the interstellar dark web with blood and fire.
