“Lioren?” Dora’s voice softened. “You’ve been staying in your beast form all this time. That was on purpose, wasn’t it?
“With everything you know about the crystal ore and the smuggling case, you really don’t seem like just some stray cat.”
She turned to Rafe. “Rafe, are you really broke?
“Did your supernatural ability really fall to Level 4?”
She paused, meeting his deep blue eyes.
“Back in that last fight in Zone 32, when you protected me, the supernatural ability you used, there’s no way that was just Level 4. That had to be Level 7.”
Rafe’s usual smile froze for a moment.
Elmer’s mouth dropped open, his doggy eyes full of shock. “W-What are you saying? Lioren and Rafe…”
He glanced back and forth between them, finally fixing his gaze on Lioren. “Lioren, weren’t you supposed to be a cat?
“And Rafe, didn’t you lose your tail or something?”
Lioren let out a sigh, his cat ears flicking back, a nervous habit whenever he was tense.
Silence.
For a long moment.
“Frostveil Planet,” Lioren finally spoke.
His voice was lower than usual, a little hoarse. “I’m the only son of Queen Neve Voss, the sole heir to the Frostveil Planet throne.”
Elmer’s doggy eyes went wide, his mouth forming a perfect O.
Clive’s eyes
narrowed slightly.
Lucian’s expression didn’t change, but Dora noticed he was staring at Lioren a little longer than usual.
Rafe raised an eyebrow, a flash of ‘so he really is something else’ in his blue eyes.
Lioren didn’t look at anyone else, his eyes were locked on Dora.
“My mother is the Queen of Frostveil Planet, and I’m her only heir.
“I’m not just some cat, I’m a white tiger.

“The white tiger bloodline goes way back, but it’s super rare and hard to pass on. That’s why my mother only
has me.”
He spoke slowly, each word deliberate, like he was peeling back the layers of his own history.
“The elders, claiming the Frostveil Planet had no female heir, tried to make my mother take in one of their daughters as her own.
“They set me up with arranged dates on the Core Planet, trying to match me off so they could get their hands on all the crystal ore on the Frostveil Planet.”
Dora listened quietly,
“My mother and I agreed, I’d use the whole ‘arranged marriage on Core Planet’ as a cover, then pretend something happened to me on the way, fake my death, and slip away for good.”
His voice remained steady, but his tail wrapped tightly around his wrist, a nervous gesture as he tried to keep his feelings in check.
“The ship was said to have ‘crashed’ en route to the Core Planet.
“After faking my death, I slipped into the Core Planet to secretly look into the factions the elders were conspiring with.”
He looked up at Dora with his amber eyes, finally meeting her gaze.
“Getting close to you at first was just a coincidence,” he said.
“I really was injured at the training ground, and you really did pick me up.
“But after that…”
He paused.
“But when I became your beast mate, that wasn’t just a coincidence. I meant it.”
Elmer couldn’t help but whisper, “So you stayed in your beast form all this time…”
“To keep my identity hidden,” Lioren replied. His tail unwrapped from his wrist and gently draped itself by Dora’s feet, almost as if he was testing the waters.
“If I ever shifted back to human form, anyone who knew me would recognize me right away. I didn’t want to cause you any trouble, Sou Sou.”
Dora’s heart skipped a beat.
“What about the crystal ore?” she asked.
“The Frostveil Planet supplies 70% of the crystal ore for the interstellar world,” Lioren replied. “I spent my childhood among those crystal ore veins.

Chapter 129
“I’m familiar with every aspect of them.”
That was why his eyes lit up the first time he heard about the crystal ore in Zone 32.
That was why he was so familiar with the ore guarded by the Shadow Demon Beasts.
Everything finally made sense.
Dora was quiet for a moment, then nodded. “Is there more?”
A cold glint flickered in his amber eyes. “I’ve spent three months digging into this.

“The list of conspirators includes the Shawn family, Kael and his military backers, a few council members in politics.
“And… some of the directors from the Sterling Group.”
His gaze settled on Rafe.
Everyone’s eyes shifted to Rafe.
Rafe paused for a few seconds, then smiled.
This time, it wasn’t his usual warm, composed smile, it was genuine, laced with a hint of self-deprecation and relief, a smile that belonged only to him.
“Guess it’s my turn,” he sighed, still as graceful as ever, but this time, the sigh was real. “What do you want to know, Dory?
“Am I really broke? Or… is my supernatural ability really at Level 4?”
Dora raised an eyebrow. “Both.”
Rafe was silent for a couple of seconds, then the aura around him suddenly shifted.
It wasn’t the restrained presence he used when pretending to be weak, nor the Level 4 strength he showed in battle.
Instead, it was a deep, powerful pressure, so intense that everyone instinctively wanted to step back.
Level 7.
No doubt about it, Level 7 supernatural ability.
Lucian’s pale golden eyes sharpened, focusing intently.
A razor-sharp glint flickered in Clive’s eyes.
Lioren’s cat ears shot straight up.
Elmer jumped to his feet.

Rafe only unleashed that overwhelming pressure for less than three seconds before pulling it back in, returning to his usual air of elegant composure.
“The assassination attempt was real,” he said, “but the injury was fake.
“Losing my tail was a ruse.
“And the drop in my supernatural ability was fake too.”
He looked at Dora, and for once, his blue eyes held no calculation, just openness.
“The infighting inside the Sterling Group is far more complex than you guys imagine,” he said.
“Those board members have always tried to keep me under their thumb.
“So they could call the shots for the whole Sterling Group.
“I wasn’t about to let them control me, so they started plotting other ways, like arranging a marriage to tie me down for their own benefit.
“They also colluded with other powerful factions, even interfering in the crystal ore trade.”
Rafe turned to Lioren. “You got the names right. Some of the Sterling Group’s board members really were involved in that plan.
“I faked my injury and stepped back just to let them take center stage, so they’d eventually expose themselves.”
Dora listened quietly.
“I needed a way out from those money-grubbing old guys,” Rafe continued.
“That assassination attempt gave me the perfect excuse. I thought, why not just go with it and pretend I was done for?
“If they believed I was useless, they’d drop their guard.”
