Chapter 15
Lioren used his purr as a warning, making it clear that a fragile female like Dora really shouldn’t take on anything dangerous.
“I know, Dora answered, as if she understood him. She picked him up again and said, “But I need starcoins. Don’t worry. I’ll be careful. And besides…”
She lowered her head and smiled at him. “I’ve got you with me, don’t I? You’ll protect me, right, Fuzzball?”
Lioren refused to answer such an absurd question.
But when she stepped into Area D-3, his tiny body visibly tensed. His amber eyes sharpened as he scanned the ground for any suspicious vine-like plants marked with dark red spots.
The cleanup was harder than Dora had expected.
The rustvine seedlings were small, but they seemed almost aware. Any time something came close, they would actively coil around it.
Dora used a piece of scrap metal she had picked up to cut them away. Her movements were clumsy, and several times, the tip of a vine nearly snapped up and struck her.
Each time, a gray blur would shoot out of her arms like a streak of lightning.
Lioren struck with perfect accuracy. The claws that sprang from those soft-looking paws were shockingly sharp, slicing through the vines before they could touch Dora
The severed ends hissed and released faint white corrosive smoke.
His movements were fast and precise, carrying a ruthless skill that didn’t match his tiny body at all.
When he landed, his injured hind leg made him stumble, but he steadied himself right away. Then he arched his back and let out a low warning rumble at the remaining vines. His small body stood in front of Dora, and his fierce gaze made him look like a king guarding his territory.
Dora stared at him in amazement. She had known this kitten was not ordinary, but she had not expected him to be so,

That sudden burst of speed and power, and the way he had stepped in front of her without hesitation really amazed her.
“Wow! Fuzzball, you’re amazing.” Dora whispered in delight.
Her eyes were practically shining as she looked at Lioren, full of admiration and even deeper affection.
She didn’t think there was anything wrong with his cat form at all. If anything, the contrast made him even cuter.
Dora smiled, “Thank you for protecting me.”
With his back to her. Lioren’s ears twitched almost imperceptibly, and the tip of his tail lifted a little.
A bit flustered, he avoided her overly bright gaze and focused on clearing the remaining vines. Somehow, his movements seemed even more forceful than before.
With Lioren’s help, the five rustvine seedlings were cleared without any real trouble.

Lioren glanced at her arm and let out a low, unclear sound from his throat, as if calling her an idiot.

Back in the trading hall, Dora collected her 30 sarcoins. Then she immediately used the starcoins she had just earned to buy two better nutrient drinks from the supply station, both with basic energy supplements.
After hesitating, she gritted her teeth and bought the cheapest simple med kit as well.
Dora opened a nutrient drink and drank half of it herself. She then held the other half to Lioren’s mouth, saying, “Here. You worked hard today. This one is better than the one I gave you this morning.”
Lioren looked at the tube of nutrient drink. He wanted to reject it.
This kind of cheap nutrient drink had too many impurities and tasted awful. For a beastfolk like him, who was used to high- purity crystal cores and premium nutrient drinks, it was basically junk food.

As for Lioren, he lay in her arms, silently judging himself for somehow getting used to this, while also unconsciously breathing that sweet scent deeper into his lungs.
Lioren opened one eye and glanced at Dora’s beautiful jawline. He mused, ‘I never said yes to be her beast mate. For now, though, I need a nap. This female’s arms are pretty warm!
“What’s going on? Dora thought and stared at the scene in front of her, completely stunned.
Beside her little tent stood two more tents, almost perfectly positioned on the left and right like two silent, out-of-place guardians.
The one on the left was pure black. The material looked thick and tough, and its style was cool. It had been set up ruthless precision, steady as a rock. It clashed sharply with everything around it and gave off a clear vibe to keep anyone

away.
The one on the right was a soft beige. Its style was more casual, but the materials were clearly not cheap either. It had been set up in a bit of a hurry, with a few edges still not properly smoothed out.
The two tents boxed in Dora’s home from either side, creating a strange and oppressive standoff.
Dora’s heart sank, and she tightened her hold on the kitten in her arms.
She thought, ‘Who are they? Stray beastfolk in this area?
Just as uncertainty gripped her, the flaps of both tents were lifted from the inside almost at the same time, as if sensing her
return.

From the black tent on the left, a polished black combat boot stepped out first. Then came a pair of long legs wrapped in sharp black tactical pants, followed by Clive’s tall figure.
He wore a simple black combat suit. One button at the collar was undone, and his sleeves were rolled up to his forearms, revealing smooth, defined muscle.
His hair was a little messy, with a few strands falling over his forehead, making his deep-set eyes look even darker. He clenched his jaw tightly,
