Chapter 159
Chapter 159
“So….” Lioren’s voice sounded a bit distant. “You have a new space? One you can actually step into?”
Dora was wondering about that too.
She closed her eyes and tried to feel for it.
Sure enough, she could still sense her original Spatial Realm for planting.
Everything was still there, the crops, blueberry trees, waterfowl, and incubators. All was well.
But the courtyard in front of her was a new, independent space; a place one could physically enter. “That Lever 3 crystal core…” Dora murmured, “the one I absorbed… it’s not just any crystal core.”
Lioren’s ears shot up.
“It’s a spatial crystal core,” he said in a low voice. “I saw records about it in an ancient book from the Frostveil Planet.
“Some special crystal cores contain the laws of space instead of energy.
“Once you absorb it, you can create an independent space within your consciousness, a place you can actually step into.”
“That timer…” Dora walked over to the stone table, watching the numbers count down.
17:32…….
17:31…….
17:30…….
“It’s a countdown,” Lioren said as he walked over. “It’s been a little over two minutes since we came in.”
“What happens when the countdown ends?” Dora asked.
Lioren shook his head, saying, ‘No idea.
Dora glanced at the hourglass.
The sand was still trickling down at a steady pace, perfectly in sync with the timer.
“If the countdown hits zero…” Dora paused, then asked. “Will we get kicked out of this space!”
Lioren thought it over and nodded. “Yeah, that’s possible.
“Spatial laws always have their limits. There’s no way anyone could just stay in here forever”

Dora took a deep breath.
17:08
Seventeen minutes remaining.
She had to uncover the secrets of this space in these seventeen minutes.
en’s tail gave a lazy flick. “So… we’re just waiting now?”
took a deep breath and settled into the wicker chair.
heart was still racing from the earlier scare, but surrounded by this calm, it gradually settled down.
We’ll wait,” she said. “Let’s wait twenty minutes and see what’s happening outside.”
Lioren hopped onto the stone table and curled up right beside her hand, nestling close.
His amber eyes were half-closed, and his tail flicked across the back of her hand in a slow, absent-minded rhythm.
The crabapple blossoms kept drifting down.
A single petal landed in Dora’s palm, gentle and warm, carrying a subtle hint of fragrance.
She suddenly smiled.
“Lioren, you know what? This might just be the best thing that happened to me today,” Dora said.
Lioren’s ears twitched. “Even better than catching Kael plotting behind our backs?”
“That’s different,” Dora replied, rubbing his ears. “We’ll figure out his plot sooner or later.
“But this space… that’s going to be my ticket to survival.”
She paused, letting her gaze li alone.

Meanwhile, outside the study.
Kael pushed open the door and stepped out, his eyes darting down the hallway, sharp and searching.
Not a soul in sight.
Only the night breeze stirred, setting the lanterns hanging along the corridor swaying softly.
Kael furrowed his brow and walked over to the spot where Dora had just been standing, the place was empty. not a trace left behind.
Cassian came over. “Father, what’s wrong?”
Kael’s gaze fell on a loose brick in the floor.
He crouched down, gave it a few taps with his fingers, then scanned his surroundings.
“I could’ve sworn I heard something just now…” Kael muttered.
Cassian suggested, “Maybe it was just some animal out at night, like a cat or something?”
Kael was silent for a moment, then stood up. “Maybe.”
But he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
There was just a trace of some barely-there scent lingering in the air.
It wasn’t the usual scent they used around the house, but something different…
A faint, sweet hint of roses.
He shot the window a long look before turning back to the study.

Elmer stood alone by the dessert table, absentmindedly snacking on pastries.
He picked up a small cake, took a bite, and let his eyes flutter shut in delight.
His white animal ears gave a little twitch with each movement, making him look utterly harmless.
But he knew someone had their eyes on him.
That gaze peeked through the crowd, layered and hard to decipher.
It carried both the intention to pull him in and a sense of superiority, like they were doing him a favor.

And there was a hint of something he couldn’t quite put his finger on, maybe jealousy.

Regina stood among the crowd, watching Elmer, her heart swirling with emotions she couldn’t even name
There was regret, a touch of bitterness, and even a bit of pride she’d never admit to herself.
The kid she’d always ignored had grown into someone truly remarkable.
‘If he were still part of the Shawn family… Regina thought to herself.
Elmer pretended not to notice anything, just kept nibbling on his pastries.
Sure enough, it wasn’t long before Regina made her way over.
Her smile was flawless, like she really was a caring mother.
“Elmer,” she called, her voice so gentle it was almost out of character for her.
Elmer looked up, blinked, and gave an innocent smile. “Good evening, Madam Shawn.”
Regina’s smile faltered for a split second.
“Elmer,” she stepped closer, lowering her voice.
“I know you might still have some resentment towards me.
“But at the end of the day, you’re still my flesh and blood…”
Elmer just blinked and kept munching on his pastries.
Regina took a deep breath and went on.
“Your supernatural ability is at Pinnacle Level 5, and you have the dual-type supernatural ability. That’s top- tier, even by Core Planet standards.
“If you’re willing to come back to the Shawn family, we can give you the best resources to help you keep leveling up.
“Even the role of my… could be yours, if you want it.”
“Madam Shawn,” Elmer cut her off, with a curious look in his light brown eyes.
“Are you trying to recruit me back into the Shawn family?”
Regina’s smile froze.
Elmer cocked his head, his white animal ears giving a little twitch.
“But didn’t you already kick me out of the Shawn family?
“I still have the letter you wrote to cut me off,

Regina’s face fell.
“Besides,” Elmer said, still nibbling on his pastries, sounding totally relaxed. “life’s pretty good for me these days.
“Dora’s good to me, and Clive, Lioren, and Rafe all treat me like their litter brother.
“I’ve got food, a place to stay, and my own room, why would I ever want to go back to the Shawn family?
“Do you really think I’d want to go back to living in the attic?”
He glanced at Regina, still wearing that easy smile in his light brown eyes.
But there was a sharpness in that smile now, something had clearly shifted. “Madam Shawn, maybe you should go fuss over your peacock son instead. “You can stop worrying about this little puppy, I’ll take care of myself.”
Regina’s face went from green to white, her expression changing every second.
Not far away, Cassian was watching the whole thing.
There was a complicated look in his eyes.
Jealousy, frustration, and even a bit of envy he’d never admit, not even to himself.
