Chapter 160
Chapter 160
‘Why does Elmer, that loser, get to have it better than me?’ Cassian thought.
130
Elmer was at Pinnacle Level 5, had the dual-type supernatural ability, protected by Dora, and her beast mates treated him like their litter brother.
He suddenly remembered Elmer being locked in the attic as a child.
Back then, he never bothered to even glance at that pathetic little mutt of a brother.
‘Now… Cassian thought, a bitter feeling rising in his chest.
Cassian averted his gaze, his hand clenching tightly around his glass.
Not far away, Regina took a deep breath and forced a smile.
“Elmer, you’re still young. You just don’t get it,” she said, her tone softening.
“After all, the Shawn family is your real family by blood.
“What could Dora ever give you?
“She’s just an adopted girl who got cast out, and her Spatial Realm is still a dud.”
“Those beast mates of hers? They’re just competing with you. There’s no way they’d ever truly care about you.
“The Shawn family is different. We’re your real family by blood.
“And behind the Shawn family, there’s the Howard family and the military’s power backing us up…
Elmer let out a yawn.
Regina’s voice faltered.
Elmer rubbed his eyes, his white beast ears drooping, he looked super sleepy.
“Madam Shawn, I’m tired. I need to go clear my head,” he said, standing up.
“Take your time eating,” he added.
He turned and walked off in another direction.
Regina stood there, her smile frozen on her face.
Rafe held his glass, eyes narrowing slightly behind his gold-rimmed glasses as he casually walked past a few of the Sterlings.

Chapter 160
They were all directors on the Sterling Group board.
These were the very same uncles who had once pressured him to step down at a board meeting.
His pace was steady, and a faint, sickly smile played on his lips, just enough to look convincing
As he passed them, he paused for a brief moment.
They all looked up at the same time, catching sight of him.
Their gazes flickered, and they quickly looked away, pretending to chat among themselves.
Rafe let out a cold laugh in his mind.
He didn’t stop, just kept moving forward.
But just as he brushed past them, he caught a few words.
“…the ore… everything’s been set up on the Frostveil Planet…”
Rafe didn’t slow down, his face betraying nothing.
But deep in his blue eyes, something flickered.
He kept walking, his steps as lazy as ever, like he was just some bored guy wandering around with nothing better to do.
No one noticed that as he passed by, the energy in the air was disturbed for just a split second.
That was him silently capturing everything.
In the corner of the hall, tucked behind the third pillar.
The Frostveil Planet elder watched as Shine stared intently at something across the room.
The pressure from a Level 8 supernatural ability user sent chills down his spine.
He lowered his head and whispered into his communicator, “Change of plans. Shine is here. Hold off for now, don’t do anything reckless.”
A hoarse voice crackled through the communicator, “Boss Clive’s already over there. Just waiting for you to go along with the act.”
The elder snorted coldly. “Let him wait.”
He didn’t notice that, just three steps behind him in the shadows, a pair of eyes was watching him.
Clive stepped out of the shadows and made his way to the buffet, glancing down at the high-tech cuisine on display, he had zero appetite.

Chapter 160
Clive looked up and happened to lock eyes with an attendant.
He frowned, feeling like he’d seen this guy somewhere before, but just couldn’t remember where
The attendant met his gaze, quickly bowed, and slipped away into the crowd.
Clive’s attention was caught by the fake Boss Clive appearing across the hall.
impostor had been heading toward the Frostveil Planet elder, but for some reason, he stopped and stood re with a cool, commanding presence, like he really was the king of the dark web.
s fake Boss Clive kept making appearances in front of everyone at the banquet hall. Clearly, he was tting something.
ive looked away, his eyes absently sweeping toward the spot where Dora had left earlier.
Clive’s brow furrowed slightly.
‘It’s been too long, he thought.
He was just about to go look for her when, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Rafe heading his way.
Rafe was still holding his glass, looking as refined and sickly as ever.
He walked over to Clive, acting like it was nothing, and leaned against a pillar, lowering his voice. “Dory hasn’t come back yet?”
“Uh-huh,” Clive said.
Rafe’s blue eyes flickered as he glanced at the fake Boss Clive. “That guy’s totally trying to imitate you.”
“I don’t do flashy,” Clive said, his tone cool.
Rafe’s lips curled into a faint smile, clearly not surprised. “Yeah, he’s trying way too hard.”
He paused, his gaze sweeping over a few figures in the crowd who were trying to avoid him.
“Five of the Sterlings showed up, my dear cousin and my dear uncles.

But those dog-like eyes were keenly scanning the crowd, clearly on the lookout for something
“Dora still hasn’t come back?” he asked quietly.
Clive shook his head.
Elmer’s brows knitted together, and he totally forgot about his snacks. “I’m going to find her..
“Hold up,” Rafe said, stopping him. “Dory told us to split up and stick to the plan.
“It’s not time yet. Just hang on a little longer.”
Elmer stood there, clearly reluctant, but he just couldn’t help sneaking glances at the door.
On the other side of the banquet hall.
Mindy and Felix were hitting it off, their conversation lively and full of energy.
Mindy felt a bit self-conscious under his gaze, but there was a strange thrill in her chest.
She lowered her head, fiddling with her glass, her ears tinged with red.
‘Man, this guy is seriously tall, Mindy thought.
Even at 5’9″, she still had to crane her neck just to meet his eyes.
His eyes were deep and full of life, with a piercing glint.
But whenever he looked at her, that sharpness melted into tenderness.
“Ms. Finn…” Felix began.
“Just call me Mindy,” Mindy interrupted, her cheeks flushing a little.
Felix went along with it smoothly. “Mindy.”
When he said her name, there was a lingering warmth in his voice, almost like he couldn’t help but be affectionate.
Mindy’s heart skipped a beat.
“The way you stood up for Dora just now,” Felix said, his gaze fixed on her, “was… really badass.”
cheeks flushed even more, and she laughed. “Dora’s my sister. Of course I’d protect her?

Mindy replied confidently. “When Dora first moved to the homestead, she lived right next door

Felix’s expression turned complicated for a second.
That was right after Dora had been cast out of the Southwell family, when she had nowhere else to turnt
It was the time when the Southwell family hurt her the most.
He paused, then said, his tone earnest, “Thank you for being there for her when she needed it most.”
Mindy looked at nd suddenly laughed. “Mr. Southwell, isn’t it exhausting, all this thanking?”
