Chapter 167 A Sisterly Heart-to-Heart
Elmer narrowed his eyes in pure enjoyment, his ears flicking happily as he soaked in the moment.
Vivienne slowly opened her eyes. When she saw Elmer and Dora, she managed a weak smile.
“That Elmer… he’s such a good kid,” Vivienne murmured.
Dora smiled and nodded. “Yeah!”
“Mom, you’re just starting to feel better. Don’t rush to talk, just rest,” Dora said gently.
Vivienne’s eyes grew a little red as she nodded, falling silent.
Iris also woke up. When she saw Dora, she called out timidly, “Dora…”
Dora walked over and gently felt her forehead.
The fever was gone.
“Get some rest. Dora said, her voice gentler than usual.
Iris’s eyes lit up, and she nodded hard.
Elmer let out a long sigh and leaned back in his chair.
Dora handed him a cup of essence spring water. He downed it in one go, instantly perking up again.
“Dora, what’s going on with the Shawn family…” Elmer asked.
“Rafe just sent an update,” Dora said, tapping her holographic device to project the group chat.

[The banquet’s over. Regina and Wendy were taken away, and the guests are all whispering about it. Even the blueberry tree’s glow has faded.]
Eimer read the messages and couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Dora, what do you think Regina’s feeling right now?” Elmer asked.
Dora thought for a moment, then said seriously, “She’s probably regretting it so much she could scream.”
They exchanged a look and couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Clive sent a message: [Lucian has already taken the fake Boss Clive away.
[The Shawn family probably thinks their plan worked.]
Dora smirked, her lips curling up.
She typed in the group chat: [The real show is just getting started.]
[Rafe: Agreed.]
[Lucian: I’ve already made arrangements with the military.
[Now we just let the news brew.]
[Clive: Blackflame Trading Guild is officially on holiday.l

Even though Vivienne and Iris’s conditions were stable, Dora decided to stay at the Southwell residence for the night, just be safe.
“Dora, I’m staying too!” Elmer’s white beast ears twitched, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
Lioren, in his cat form, hopped onto Dora’s shoulder, his tail curling around her neck, making his stance clear.
Dora couldn’t help but laugh. “It’s not like I’m never coming back. I’m just staying for one night.”
“Not even for one night,” Lioren said, his tone matter-of-fact. “You’re our female mate, someone has to keep watch over y
Dora hesitated. “The Southwell family is safe, and besides, you guys are outsiders. It wouldn’t really look good for you tos overnight…”
“We could all just stay in your room tonight and not step out,” Lioren said.
Elmer nodded enthusiastically, totally on board.
I really have no words for this, Dora thought, feeling utterly speechless.
The Southwell family’s butler had already prepared the guest rooms.
But when the butler led Elmer and Lioren to the guest rooms, both males stopped in their tracks.
Elmer glanced at the beautifully decorated guest room, then at the door at the end of the hallway. “Uh, is this…?”
“We’ll just stay in Dora’s room, thanks,” Elmer said.
The butler paused for a moment, then smiled knowingly and pointed to the soft pink door at the end of the hallway. “That
one…”
“Yep, that’s the room we want,” Elmer said, nodding.
Lioren was already heading for the door Elmer had pointed out.
The butler smiled knowingly at Dora.
Dora rubbed her forehead. “Let them stay, then.”
Elmer pushed open the door, and a gentle, unmistakable scent, Dora’s, filled the air.
The room was just as Dora had left it: soft pink bedding, her favorite novels arranged neatly on the desk, and a withered, odd-looking plant on the windowsill.
Elmer took a deep breath, his eyes narrowing in satisfaction. “You can really smell Dora in here.”
Lioren followed behind, his cat ears twitching and his tail flicking with obvious disdain when he heard that.
“Silly dog,” Lioren scoffed.
But even he had to admit, Dora’s faint, sweet scent still lingered in the room, it was oddly comforting, bringing a strange sense of peace.
Lioren hopped onto the bed, found a cozy spot on the pillow, and settled in, his tail gently swishing.
Night deepened.

In Iris’s room, the lights were soft and gentle.
Dora sat by the bed, watching the small figure curled up under the covers.
Iris was wrapped up in her blanket, only her eyes peeking out timidly at Dora.
“Dora…” Iris called out softly.
“Hmm?” Dora responded.
“Can you… stay with me tonight?” Iris asked.
Dora paused, a little surprised.
Iris’s voice got even softer, trembling a bit. “I… I have something I want to tell you…”
Dora glanced toward the door.
Vivienne was standing there, her gaze gentle as she looked at them.
“Dora,” Vivienne said softly, “could you keep Iris company tonight?”
Dora paused for a second, then nodded.
Vivienne smiled warmly and quietly closed the door.
Dora got changed into her pajamas and slipped into bed next to Iris.
The bed was big, with about two feet between them, but Iris was so tense she barely moved.
The lights were dimmed, leaving just a small nightlight by the bed, its warm glow spreading softly across the room.
Outside, the rain drizzled, its sound softened by the protective barrier into a gentle, soothing melody.
Silence.
Time ticked by in silence,
“Iris,” Dóra broke the silence.
Iris flinched slightly.
“So, what did you want to tell me?” Dora asked.
Iris bit her lip, her eyes rimmed with tears as she tried to hold herself together.
“Dora… I… I wanted to say sorry,” Iris whispered, her voice trembling
Dora turned her head to look at her.
Tears slipped down Iris’s cheeks, but she didn’t reach up to wipe them away, she just let them fall.
“I know you hate me,” Iris said, her voice shaky with tears, but every word was clear.
“I know… it’s all because of me that you were forced out of the family…
“It’s because of me that the Shawn family changed the engagement…
