Chapter 166 Elmer Refuses To Heal Regina

“What the hell is going on?!”

“Wasn’t that tree supposed to purify things?”

“Shawn family, we demand an explanation!”

Cassian held the unconscious Wendy, completely at a loss.

He looked over at his father, Kael, who was supporting Regina, his face ashen.

“Call a doctor!” Kael shouted. “Call an ambulance!”

Someone fumbled to make the call.

But the unconscious females’ condition was deteriorating rapidly.

Their faces were flushed, their breathing rapid, and their bodies burning up.

These were all signs that the parasite infection was rapidly worsening.

Regina was supported, half-reclined in a chair, barely able to open her eyes.

Her vision blurred, her mind clouded, but there was still a trace of lucidity left in her thoughts.

Something suddenly came to her.

Elmer.

He grabbed a attendant. “Did you see Elmer? The one with the white beast ears!”

The waiter shook his head.

He grabbed another attendant. “Where’s Elmer?!”

“I… I think… he just left with Ms. Southwell…”

Cassian’s heart sank.

Just then, a smooth, unhurried voice called out.

He paused, glancing at the unconscious Regina, his voice dripping with exaggerated sympathy. “Mrs. Shawn, you’ve been infected too?

“What a shame… Looks like Elmer won’t be back anytime soon.”

Regina’s consciousness was clouded, but she caught every word crystal clear.

Cassian’s expression twisted with anger and frustration.

There was a brief silence on the other end.

Then Elmer’s voice came through, calm and emotionless.

“I’m with my family right now.”

“You!” Cassian shouted, barely holding back his rage. “She’s your mother, your real mother!”

“Mother?” Elmer let out a cold, mocking laugh. “Cassian, tell me, what does it even mean to be a mother?

“Do I even get to use the Shawn name? I don’t even have a last name!

“She locked me away in the attic since I was a kid, never once cared if I lived or died.

“And whenever I didn’t do what she wanted, she’d just shove those disownment papers in my face like it was nothing.

“Now that she’s sick, she suddenly remembers I’m her son? Is that what you call being a mother?”

Cassian was left speechless, unable to get a word out.

“I’m saving people,” Elmer said, his voice calin again. “That’s it.”

The call ended.

Cassian clenched his communicator, his face darkening with frustration and helplessness.

The chatter around him intensified, growing louder and more chaotic.

Kael, still supporting Regina, barked at Cassian, “Stop standing around!

“Get someone to carry them to a room so they can rest!

“End the party!”

Cassian finally came to his senses and quickly signaled the attendant.

The unconscious Regina and Wendy were swiftly carried away.

The other unconscious females were escorted to the lounge by their families.

Kael stepped up to the front and spoke in a grave tone, “Everyone, I’m sorry, but tonight’s party ends here.

“Regina and Wendy are unwell and need to rest.

“Please, everyone, you may leave now.”

He paused, then added, “The Shawn family will provide an explanation regarding this infection.”

“An explanation?” someone muttered.

The guests exchanged glances, their faces full of subtle expressions.
