“After you plant the blueberry tree, remember to water it once a day, but not too much.”

Iris nodded obediently. “Okay, Dora.”

They all walked to the door, where Sceadu was already waiting by the hovercar.

He was a young guy in his early twenties, with short hair and handsome but gentle looks. He had a quiet vibe about him, obviously one of Clive’s own people.

When he saw Iris, he paused for a second, then lowered his gaze and respectfully opened the hovercar door. “Ms. Southwell, please.”

Iris’s cheeks turned pink.

She kept her head down, murmured a soft thank you, and slipped into the hovercar.

Vivienne glanced at Sceadu, a flicker of admiration in her eyes, then got in the hovercar after her.

Sceadu closed the door and nodded at Clive. “Clive, I’ll take them home now.”

Clive nodded, then added, “Later, arrange for Iris to exchange planting experience with the female members of the guild.

“You’re in charge of keeping Iris safe.”

Sceadu paused, his eyes unconsciously drifting to the girl with her head down in the car, then quickly looked

away.

“Yes, sir,” he replied.

Sceadu opened the driver’s door, almost unconsciously casting another glance at Iris.

This time, there was something more in his eyes.

Iris’s face grew even redder, and she almost buried her face in her hands.

Vivienne caught all of this, a faint smile tugging at her lips.

She didn’t say anything, just took her daughter’s hand, then said to Dora, “Dora, we’ll head home now.

“Get some rest, okay?”

Dora nodded, watching her mother and sister as the hovercar door slowly closed.

The hovercar lifted off and disappeared into the night.

Mindy leaned in close to Dora and whispered, “Did you see the way Sceadu was looking at Iris? Something’s definitely up.”

Dora grinned mischievously. “Yeah, I caught that too.”

Mindy poked her. “Are you trying to play matchmaker again?”

“Again? Come on,” Dora shot back, sounding all innocent. “I’m just giving them a little nudge.”

The two of them burst out laughing.

Felix stood next to Mindy, watching her laugh, her eyes curved into crescents. His gaze was so tender, it was like water about to spill over.

Rock and Jaxsen shared a look, then grinned at each other.

Milo walked over to Clive. “Boss Clive, we’ll be heading back now as well.

“I’ll make sure everything’s set for the Blackflame Trading Guild tomorrow.”

Clive nodded.

After Mindy and her family left, the courtyard grew quiet.

Dora stretched lazily. “Alright, I should head upstairs and get some rest.”

She turned to head inside, but after a couple of steps, she suddenly sensed something was off.

Five pairs of eyes were all fixed on her from behind.

Rafe’s smile stayed the same, but a flicker of helplessness flashed in his blue eyes.

“Lucian,” she said, turning to the golden-haired, golden-eyed commander. “You still have some military business to take care of, right?”
