Chapter 408 On Kylie’s Side

Damian sat beside Isabelle, his trousers brushing against her leg. He slid an arm around her waist from behind, holding her close.

“Finished your work?” Isabelle picked up a fork, speared a grape, and fed it to him.

“Not yet. I’ll probably be busy a little longer tonight,” he said.

With Damian’s recovery, plus Isabelle and Bruce’s hospital stay, work had piled up at the company. It was lot, but things were moving smoothly. Having Barry and Wilbur around made the workload easier to manage.

“Still more work?” Isabelle frowned, clearly unhappy.

His leg was still healing. He needed more rest, not more strain. If he kept pushing himself, who knew when he’d fully recover?

Damian turned and kissed her lips.

“Don’t…” Isabelle raised a hand to cover his mouth, but his warm lips brushed against her palm.

Damian smiled, his arm tightening to pull her closer.

“Everyone’s still here,” Isabelle whispered, giving him a light push.

People were outside, and staff were still working in the kitchen. It wouldn’t look good for the hosts to be seen being affectionate in here.

“Isn’t that what you meant?” He kept kissing her palm, each touch sending a ticklish shiver through her hand.

Isabelle’s cheeks warmed. The tingling sensation lingered on her skin. Her complaint wasn’t about that- she was worried about his health.

“That’s not it at all.” She pulled her hand back, the heat from his kiss still lingering.

“I thought you missed me,” Damian murmured, leaning in to kiss her cheek.

“Alright, stop. The guests will be leaving soon,” Isabelle reminded him.

Regina and the others were socializing outside, but with the hosts absent, people were hesitating to leave.

“Fine.” Damian pressed one more kiss to the side of her neck, then took her hand and led her out.

Once outside, Damian joined Gordon in conversation. Isabelle didn’t follow.

Lynn came over instead. “Isabelle, can I take some of this home?”

She had her eye on the roast meat prepared by the chef Isabelle hired.

She’d never had such authentic roast meat. It was absolutely perfect for her taste.

Plus, Lucas hadn’t been back for a while. She’d secretly opened a bottle of his wine and sull had ball left She planned to enjoy it with the roast meat tonight.

She had the next day off, and she wasn’t about to waste a perfectly

good evening.

“Of course. Take whatever you like,” Isabelle said with a laugh.

She was grateful to Lynn. Lynn had given her plenty of advice on leg massage techniques and dietary p for recovery.

Damian’s condition had been gradually improving. At least his chronic rheumatism had eased significantly. With more care, the symptoms would likely fade as his injury healed.

While Damian mingled with the guests, Isabelle helped Lynn gather an assortment of delicious foods from the spread, packing up anything that looked good.

Lynn didn’t hold back. She couldn’t cook. Since she hadn’t been eating at home much lately-usually going out with colleagues-she had given the housekeeper at Lucas’ place some time off.
