Chapter 409 Have Your Last Name
Chapter 409 Have Your Last Name
If she didn’t feel like going out, she’d just order in. She really didn’t need a housekeeper to cook for hee
anyway.
Besides, cooking for one wasn’t easy-making too much, and she would be stuck with leftovers, throwin it away, and it felt like a waste.
Tonight, Lynn was craving the food from Isabelle’s personal chef.
Isabelle had someone pack her some roasted meat, desserts, and fresh fruit.
“So you really don’t cook at all when Lucas is away?” Isabelle asked curiously.
“Honestly, it’s better if he never comes back. Living alone is just too good,” Lynn replied.
When she was by herself, she could sleep on the sofa every night-and that sofa was unbelievably comfortable.
She could also walk around the villa barefoot in comfy clothes, without worrying about who might see her or feeling awkward.
Getting used to living with a man had taken some time.
After seeing Lynn off, Isabelle felt tired. She sat on a bench under the grape arbor and leaned back to rest.
Damian walked over with a small slice of cake. “Tired?”
“My back’s a little sore from standing so long.” Isabelle scooted over to make room.
He sat down beside her and handed her the cake.
“You still have this? I thought it was all gone.” Isabelle lit up, feeling suddenly lighter.
This was her favorite cake-low-fat, low-sugar, made by one of the maids. They hadn’t made much, so everyone only got one piece.
Damian had quietly saved two slices in the fridge, just in case she got hungry late at night and wanted something sweet.
Isabelle had always had a sweet tooth.
She took a small bite. The smooth cream melted on her tongue, rich and sweet.
Damian smiled, his large hand gently rubbing her lower back through her thin shirt. “Feel better?”
“Yeah, much better. You’re the best, honey.” She rested her head on his shoulder, eating her cake and gazing out at the warm, lively courtyard.
A soft smile touched Damian’s lips.

She’d been calling him “honey” more often lately, and it sounded natural now
The two sat quietly under the grape arbor as the moon rose. Its clear light spilled down br darker corners of the yard.
The chirping of insects began, almost unnoticed.
Summer nights were here.

A warm breeze swept through, rustling the fallen leaves near their feet. The evening air gently lifted her hair.
His hand kept gently stroking her waist. In that moment, happiness felt real.
“Damian,” Isabelle said softly.
“Hmm?”
Isabelle adjusted herself to sit more comfortably. “Did you see the names Regina sent over?”
She suddenly remembered the list Regina had shown her the other day.
Even though she’d teased Regina for being in a hurry, seeing the baby names they’d picked had warmed her heart.
She was really looking forward to meeting the little one. What kind of angel would he be?
“I saw them. You choose,” Damian said, leaning down to press a warm kiss to the top of her head. He stayed like that for a long moment.
“You’re going to be a father, and you’re this laid-back about it?” Isabelle licked her lips, finishing the last bit of cake.
Damian took the plate from her, set it on a nearby table, and sat back down.
“Whatever makes you happy. They can even have your last name,” he said.
Isabelle looked at him. He seemed completely serious.
She laughed.
“What’s funny?” Damian gently tapped the tip of her nose.
“If they take my last name, people might think you married into my family. Wouldn’t that be a bad deal for you?”
“Actually, I wouldn’t mind being a kept man.”
“I never knew Mr. Cross had such tastes.”
Damian lightly pinched her chin. “I only realized later-that kind of life is the best.”

He leaned in and kissed her.
Isabelle smiled.
He’s right. It really is the best.
When Lynn got back to the villa, she carried her takeout bag in one hand and a skewer of roasted meat in the other, humming as she ate.
She slid into her slippers and neatly placed her heels in the shoe cabinet.
If not for Lucas’ leather shoes sitting there, she might have thought she still lived alone.
But Lucas hadn’t come back. His shoes had been sitting in that same spot for a while.
Lynn went into the kitchen, took out a plate, and arranged the food she’d brought back. Then she carried it to the sofa, set it on the coffee table, and went upstairs to change.
She brought down the half-finished bottle of wine from the kitchen and a new glass Lucas had bought her
She turned off the main lights, switched on the floor lamps, picked a recently released movie, and started streaming it.
Pulling a throw blanket over her legs, Lynn settled in for her solo late-night feast.
Up on the second-floor hallway, Lucas stood with a towel around his waist, his hair still damp. Water dripped from the ends onto his shoulders. Leaning his elbows on the railing, he watched Lynn drink wine and watch her movie in the living room.
A faint smile crossed his face before he headed downstairs.
Lynn, completely absorbed, didn’t notice Lucas moving around in the kitchen.
