Chapter 413 Attracted to Him
Chapter 413 Attracted to Him
Lucas was actually a good guy, aside from his bad temper.
Just then, Lucas was drifting in and out of sleep.
Lynn snapped out of her thoughts, picked up the gauze, and carefully bandaged his wound.
When her fingertips lightly brushed his skin, the heat from his body felt scorching. Lynn could feel the slight tensing of his muscles.
“Try to relax, or the wound might open again,” Lynn reminded him softly.
Lucas swallowed, not fully asleep.
Once the bandage was secure, Lynn leaned closer and reached to feel his forehead. Her wrist was instantl caught in his grip.
“Ouch.” Lynn was startled by his sudden move.
A sharp pain shot through her wrist, as if the bones were being crushed. The pain made her lurch forward. nearly collapsing on top of him. They were now inches apart, their breaths mingling.
Her other hand instinctively pressed against his chest, trying to keep some distance.
His whole body was burning up, the heat from his palm unusually intense.
“What are you doing?” Lucas’ eyes were dark, his hot breath washing over her face.
“I think
you have a fever.” Lynn carefully pulled her hand back and shifted away, gently rubbing her wrist.
His grip was incredibly strong.
“Sorry,” Lucas mumbled, his mind foggy.
Lynn picked up the T-shirt nearby and handed it to him. “Put this on.”
Lucas lay back and pulled the shirt on. He avoided looking at Lynn, closed his eyes once he was dressed, and drifted back to sleep.
Lynn gently smoothed his shirt over the bandaged wound, then took a thermometer and placed it under his arm.
“I’ll get you some fever medicine.” Lynn left the room, holding a small packet of medicine. She stood in the kitchen for a long moment, lost in thought.
When she returned, she was carrying a cup of prepared medicine.
She didn’t dare touch Lucas randomly, afraid he might have another startled reaction like before, so she called his name softly.

“Lucas.” Getting no response, she tried again, “Lucas…”
Lucas slowly opened his eyes.
Lynn let out a quiet sigh of relief. She took the thermometer from under his arm-108 F
So he wasn’t faking it.
“Can you sit up to drink this?” she asked.
Their eyes met, and only then did Lynn notice the soft, almost tender look in Lucas’ eyes,
Tender…
That was the only word for it. It was a rare gentleness she’d never seen in his gaze before.
“Okay.” Lucas pushed himself up with his hands, struggling a little.
Lynn hovered, unsure if she should help. Flustered, she tugged at the corner of the blanket to cover him and couldn’t help but notice the prominent bulge beneath it.
She turned her face away, pretending she hadn’t seen.
But her cheeks were burning.
Lucas drank the medicine and lay back down.
Lynn turned off the light and hurried out of the room.
She left the door open, worried he might spike a fever again in the night. She’d probably need to check on him later.
Lucas had wanted to tell her not to bother, but she’d turned off the light and left before he could speak.
He smiled faintly to himself.
Back in her room, Lynn leaned against the closed door, covering her face with her hands. Then she turned, pressing her forehead against the wood, unable to shake the heat coursing through her.
She was a doctor. She thought she had strong nerves. She had seen this kind of thing in other patients before. But seeing it on Lucas felt completely different.
Lynn didn’t have a fever, but she was burning up. A tightness gathered low in her abdomen, as if…
She was utterly mortified.
How can I have those kinds of thoughts about Lucas?
Am I actually… attracted to him? I must be insane.
That night, Lynn set an alarm to check on Lucas every half hour for the first part of the night.

After taking the medicine, Lucas fell into a deep sleep. His temperature gradually dropped, and shankfully, it didn’t spike again.
Lynn finally managed to get some rest in the early hours.
But the next morning, she couldn’t get up.
She’d had some wine the night before, plus she’d been up tending to Lucas. She was exhausted. Lucas was the one who came in to wake her.
She’d left her door open last night so she could hear him if he called. She hadn’t expected/Lucas to make breakfast and then come get her.
“Time to get up.” Lucas sat on the edge of her bed, looking at her drowsy form. He couldn’t resist reaching out to pinch her cheek.
Lynn immediately pulled the covers over her head. “Could you at least knock before coming in? I’m a woman, you know.”
Isn’t it rude to just walk in like that?
Lucas smiled, “I did knock. You didn’t hear. I thought you might have died from taking care of me last night. You know, houses where people die are hard to sell.”
Lynn fell silent.
He never has a nice thing to say.
“I’ll be waiting downstairs,” Lucas chuckled softly and left.
Hidden under the covers, Lynn waited until she heard the door click shut before cautiously peeking out.
She knew she was a messy sleeper.
So embarrassing. Being seen like that by him… If we get married, he’ll probably find it annoying.
She sighed.
Is there a cure for bad sleeping habits?
When Lynn came downstairs, two bowls of butternut squash soup were waiting on the dining table, cooling.
