Sweet Flash Marriage with the Restrained Tycoon (Isabelle and Damien) novel Chapter 414

Chapter 414 Isn’t Happy With Wilbur

She didn’t eat butternut. Seeing the soup instantly made her frown.

But she didn’t dare throw away something Lucas had made.

“Sit,” Lucas said, coming out of the kitchen with two glasses of warm milk.

Lynn looked tired, probably from lack of sleep.

“Thanks for last night,” Lucas said.

“Don’t mention it,” she replied flatly, stirring the unappetizing breakfast in front of her.

“It’s cooled down enough,” Lucas said.

Lynn had no choice but to start eating.

To her surprise, Lucas’ cooking was pretty good. The butternut squash soup tasted fine-not as bad as she’d feared.

She finished it.

“How are you feeling? Do you want to go to the hospital?” Lynn asked.

“Why waste the money when we have a doctor right here?” Lucas said with a smile.

“I’m an orthopedic surgeon,” she corrected him.

She had some general medical experience, but she was afraid of ending up in another situation like last night.

Last night, she couldn’t sleep at all.

“I don’t mind,” Lucas said.

But I do.

Lynn picked up her milk and drank it absently.

Spending the day with Lucas felt like an ordeal.

Lynn walked on eggshells, her nerves on edge. Luckily, Lucas was still weak and listless. His fever was gone, but his energy hadn’t returned.

The next day, Lynn went to work, leaving Lucas alone at home.

“Ms. Murphy.” Damian had come for a follow-up. He stood by Lynn’s desk with his test results.

Lynn had her chin propped on one hand. The other held a pen, motionless, as she stared blankly into space.

“Ms. Murphy?” Damian called her again.

Lynn snapped back to attention.

“So fast?” Lynn took the report.

Was it fast?

She’d been zoning out all morning. Thankfully, there weren’t many patients today.

“Everything looks good. Come back for another check in six months,” Lynn said. “Don’t put too much strain on it. You still need to rest.”

“Alright.” Damian nodded.

He knew Lucas had returned injured, but with a doctor at home, he wasn’t too worried.

After a brief chat, Damian left.

Dylan was waiting for him outside.

“Mr. Cross, what’s the plan now?” Dylan asked.

“Give me the car keys,” Damian said. “You head back to the office.”

Dylan handed over the keys.

Damian was going to pick up Isabelle.

Isabelle was at Beatrice’s today, delivering the clothes Kylie had sent from abroad.

Beatrice hadn’t ordered many loungewear pieces. Knowing the Crowther family situation, Kylie had hurried to finish the job, wanting to cut all ties with them completely.

Damian had called Isabelle earlier and told Bruce to go home first.

When Damian called Isabelle, Beatrice was looking over the clothes without much enthusiasm.

Seeing Beatrice’s serious expression, Isabelle could tell her mind wasn’t really on the garments.

Loungewear designs were fairly standard, with no special requirements, making them easy to produce. But Kylie hadn’t cut corners. Her craftsmanship was excellent.

Isabelle had already unpacked and inspected everything before delivering it.

Beatrice seemed satisfied with the quality, but all she could muster was a sigh.

“Is something not right?” Isabelle couldn’t help asking.

Beatrice shook her head helplessly. “No, it’s fine. I’m just… unsettled.”

Isabelle could guess why.

“Would you keep me company for a bit?” Beatrice asked.

“Of course,” Isabelle agreed.

After finishing Beatrice’s order, Isabelle didn’t have much else lined up. Lately, she was turning down host projects, wanting to take it easy.

With Diana away, she couldn’t handle the workload alone.

Isabelle followed Beatrice to a pavilion in the garden, and they both sat down.

Coffee was brewing on the table, accompanied by pastries.

“You’ve probably heard the rumors by now,” Beatrice said with another sigh. “Ryan worked his whole life to get where he is. He just took office, and now this happens. People outside don’t know the details, but we do. Kylie…”

She probably isn’t happy with Wilbur.

She continued, “Ryan needs connections. The Harmon family has a good reputation in the city. We thought our families would join smoothly.” She poured a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

Outsiders kept talking about an upcoming wedding. Only those on the inside knew Kylie had run away.

If this matter just fades away or waits for the gossip to die down on its own, it could seriously damage the Crowther family’s image later on.

Isabelle listened quietly without commenting.

“The truth is, Wilbur is in love with another woman,” Beatrice confessed.

But Ashley wasn’t right for Wilbur. And Beatrice must have heard about Ashley’s death by now.

“I tested the waters with that woman earlier. She didn’t like Wilbur either.” Beatrice frowned.
