Chapter 415 A Matter of Principle
Chapter 415 A Matter of Principle
Beatrice was confused.
Wilbur’s qualifications weren’t bad at all. So why did it seem like no woman around him liked him?
“If it were up to you, what outcome would you hope for?” Isabelle asked.
“Kylie would be lovely,” Beatrice said with a smile.
Just judging by the craftsmanship of those clothes, there was nothing to criticize.
Although Beatrice had Kylie on WhatsApp and they communicated about designs, that was it. Kylie never shared anything personal.
Beatrice couldn’t really help the situation.
Isabelle understood what Beatrice meant, but there was nothing she could do either.
Just then, a maid approached Beatrice. “Mrs. Crowther, you might need to look at one of the outfits.”
Isabelle thought the voice sounded familiar, as if she’d heard it somewhere before. She turned to look.
The maid was Harper.
Harper was equally startled to see Isabelle. She hadn’t expected to run into Isabelle here. After that night, she had looked Isabelle up online.
Isabelle really was the designer she’d claimed to be, though she hadn’t admitted it at the time. And now she was here.
At the Crowther Villa, Harper was responsible for organizing Beatrice’s wardrobe-coordinating outfits, maintaining clothes, and so on.
She had an interest in fashion and design, so she followed the industry and naturally recognized Isabelle.
“What is it?” Beatrice asked.
Harper looked embarrassed. “You should come see.”
Beatrice and Isabelle exchanged a glance, then got up and followed Harper to the walk-in closet.
“It was fine when I brought it in earlier, but when I went to put it away, I noticed the collar seam had come loose, and a button was missing. I couldn’t find it.” Harper sounded guilty.
She was in charge of the delivery. She’d only stepped away to use the restroom, and when she returned, the outfit was like this.
There were no cameras in the closet, so there was no way to tell what happened or who did it.
Isabelle took the garment and examined it.

This didn’t look like accidental damage. It seemed deliberate.
A custom-made piece like this wouldn’t have such poor-quality stitching or loose buttons. The clothes went through multiple checks before arriving here.
So the damage must have happened after delivery.
Beatrice paused, not blaming Harper. “It’s fine. Not a big problem.”
She looked at Isabelle. “I’m afraid I’ll have to trouble you with this.”
“It’s no trouble. But I can’t take it on myself. I’ll have to send it back to Kylie and have her repair it. It will take some time. Is that alright?” Isabelle asked.
With custom pieces, it wasn’t right for Isabelle to handle Kylie’s work. It was a matter of principle.
“That’s fine with me. I’m sorry for the extra work. I’ll cover the cost,” Beatrice said kindly.
“Alright.” Isabelle nodded.
“Mrs. Crowther, I’m so sorry. It was my responsibility,” Harper said, bowing her head.
She didn’t want to lose her job over this. Working for Beatrice was a good position. Beatrice was kind and patient-a rare employer-and the pay was generous.
Even if she hadn’t done it herself, the fact that it happened on her watch made her afraid of being blamed.
“It’s not your fault. Don’t worry,” Beatrice reassured her.
Isabelle took the damaged outfit back with her.
Beatrice frowned slightly and looked at Harper, who lowered her head again.
“This isn’t on you. Ask Wilbur to come see me,” Beatrice said, her tone still gentle.
“Yes, Mrs. Crowther.” Harper hurried out.
When Wilbur arrived, Beatrice was drinking her coffee.
“Was this your doing?” Beatrice asked.
“Yes,” Wilbur admitted.
“What are you thinking?” She was referring to the situation with Kylie.
“I’ll follow her lead,” Wilbur replied.
Beatrice frowned. “Just go. Get out of here.”
She practically shooed him away.

Beatrice knew that if the outfit was sent back, Wilbur could track the shipping information and find Kyl
She didn’t want to interfere in his love life, but she also couldn’t stand him being single at thirty worrying.
Kylie seemed like a good girl, just a bit young. Beatrice sighed.
She probably doesn’t like my thirty-year-old bachelor son. That’s why she ran off so fast.
Wilbur himself probably didn’t know what outcome he wanted by finding her. But since this mess started because of him, if it kept spreading, Kylie’s reputation would suffer.
Even if they never ended up together, and Kylie married someone else one day, this could still affect her future.

When Isabelle walked out of the Crowther Villa, Damian was waiting in the car with his eyes closed.
She bent down and tapped on the window. It rolled down. “Hey, mister, are you free?”
Damian smiled, “Sure. Where to, beautiful?”
“My place.”
“That doesn’t sound proper. I sell my skills, not myself.” He paused, his voice dropping. “Well, I could make an exception… for a fee.”
Isabelle leaned in through the window and kissed his lips. “Is that enough?”
