Lynn ate her breakfast silently, ignoting tum
“No gratitude at all,” Lucas said with a soft laugh. “Was the wine at home not good enough?”
“It’s fine. I just had a couple of drinks at the event last night.”
“I thought maybe you were scared of me, so you didn’t dare drink at home.”
That’s exactly why. But being scared doesn’t help.
No matter where Lynn drank, Lucas would find her and drag her home, all while claiming his “payment.”
Looks like I should drink less from now on.
The next day, Isabelle went to the hospital for her prenatal checkup.
Damian went to get the reports. She waited quietly on a bench in the hallway,
“Ellie.” A familiar voice reached her ears.
Only Anthony called her that. She looked up and, sure enough, it was him.
She smiled slightly, “What are you doing here?”
This was the obstetrics and gynecology floor. She hadn’t expected to run into him here.
“Came with my sister for her checkup.” Anthony glanced toward an exam room.
Aurora had just gone in, so Isabelle hadn’t seen her. He sat down beside Isabelle.
Isabelle didn’t know he had a sister. To be exact, even though she’d known Anthony for a long time and considered him a friend, he’d never mentioned his background or personal life.
So maybe they weren’t that close.
“You have a sister,” Isabelle said.
“Sorry, I never brought it up before.” Anthony paused.
In the past, he couldn’t face it, so he avoided talking about his life. Aurora was his only family in the world.
His face had scared off plenty of people. Back then, the only ones who hadn’t seemed to mind were Isabelle and Diana.
“You don’t need to apologize to me.” She understood. “We’re just happy you’re in a better place now.”
“Yeah.” Anthony wasn’t a big talker, but it wasn’t that he didn’t want to talk.
“Where’s Damian? He didn’t come with you?” he asked.
“Huh?” Isabelle was taken aback for a second. “You know Damian?”

“Anthony hesitated. They’d never been formally introduced. He just knew about them from his own research.
“Anthony?” Damian walked over, holding the reports.
isabelle and Anthony had been chatting and laughing.
The night they reunited, when Damian was being joked about doting on firswife, he’d shown Anthony a photo of isabelle Anthony had just smiled without comment.
They sat on the bench with an empty seat between them, maintaining a polite distance.
“I’m here with Aurora for her checkup. I didn’t expect to see you two,” Anthony said with a smile.
Damian sat next to Isabelle. The space between her and Anthony remained empty.
“Aurora’s here, too? Where’s Alaric?” Damian asked.
Anthony said, “Alaric’s busy. I didn’t want Aurora to come alone. I had free time, so I came along”
Damian nodded. It was good he was getting out, better than staying cooped up at home.
The two men on either side of Isabelle talked over her, as if they had endless things to discuss.
From their conversation, Isabelle learned Aurora was Anthony’s sister. The world was so small. They were all connected.
“Ellie, want to have dinner tonight?” Anthony asked.
Isabelle didn’t answer immediately. She looked at Damian and caught a flicker of something in his eyes.
“Do you want to go?” Damian asked her.
“Yes.” Isabelle nodded.
It had been a long time since she’d seen Anthony. After exchanging contacts the other night, there had been no further word.
We should invite Diana, too.
“Then we’ll all go,” Damian said.
Damian and the others had already planned to have dinner together tonight. He hadn’t planned to bring Isabelle, worried Anthon might feel uncomfortable–Anthony was still sensitive about the scar on his face.
“Anthony. Dami.” Aurora came out of the exam room and saw the two men.
As she got closer, she noticed Isabelle sitting between them, with Damian’s hand resting possessively on her waist.
“Isabelle.” This was the first time she’d addressed Isabelle so friendly.
Damian and Isabelle smiled and nodded, giving her the respect she seemed to want.
Anthony didn’t know about Aurora’s past actions, and no one had brought it up.
He stood up with a smile. “Everything okay?”

All goud” Aurora glanced at Isabelle, feeling a pang of gunt.
She was still hung up on the past, afraid these two held a grudge against her. She felt too ashamed to face them.
Now that she was pregnant with Alaric’s child, her old obsession with Damian had finally faded.
“We should get going then,” Anthony said to them.
“See you tonight,” Damian replied.
They said their goodbyes, and Anthony left with Aurora.

Damian watched them walk away. He felt Isabelle’s arm tighten around his as she took the reports from his hand and started reading them carefully.
“You know Anthony?” Damian asked.
“Yeah. We met a long time ago,” Isabelle murmured, still looking over the papers.
