Chapter 680 The New Name

Daisy was more than happy with his decision.

She’d assumed Anthony didn’t own a house and had planned to stay in the penthouse indefinitely. She hadn’t expected him to take her offhand comment so seriously.

On the babies‘ 30–day milestone, Anthony invited everyone to the villa.

He’d thought about hosting the celebration elsewhere, but he didn’t want to put Daisy through the hassle of traveling back and forth. So he hired chefs to cook at home instead.

All their friends came, along with Daisy’s relatives and family friends.

Some of the relatives who lived nearby had vaguely heard about Daisy’s situation. Now, seeing her married with twins, those old “rumors” died for good.

Daisy finally felt at peace.

That evening, Daisy finished her shower and did a lap around the living room. No Anthony.

She checked the nursery. No Anthony.

The babies had just been put down. One of the nannies said. “They were crying pretty hard earlier. Mr. Vale came in, talked to them for a bit, and then I think he went to the study.”

Daisy had let Anthony pick the nicknames. The older twin was Lyra. The younger, Luna.

“Got it.” Daisy looked at the babies. Their features–the eyes, the brows–were just like Anthony’s.

Even their temperaments matched his. Quiet. Well–behaved.

They’re so beautiful. Good thing they don’t look like me.

“Mr. Vale seemed a little drunk,” the nanny added.

Daisy paused. Anthony was usually measured with alcohol. The only time she’d seen him really drink was when her father had been pouring. Tonight, people had offered him drinks, but he’d been busy with the babies, so no one had pushed.

He shouldn’t be drunk.

Daisy went upstairs to find him. She found him on the balcony of the study.

The lights were off. She didn’t turn them on. She walked in anyway.

Anthony’s ears perked up. He set down his glass.

“You’re here.”

His voice came out of the darkness. He stood up and turned on the light.

Chapter 680 The New Name

The brightness made Daisy squint. She saw the bottle of tequila on the balcony table.

Then she looked at Anthony. The corners of his eyes were red. His collarbones were flushed. His white shirt was half unbuttoned, his tie askew.

He looked like he had something on his mind. “Why are you drinking alone out here?”

Anthony smiled, sat back down, pulled her onto his lap, and wrapped his arms around her.

Daisy had never sat on him like this before. She was nervous. She didn’t know where to put her hands. Finally, she rested them on his shoulders.

Through the crisp fabric of his shirt, she could feel how broad they were.

These shoulders had carried more than responsibility. They’d carried her legs too.

She couldn’t look at him.

“I’m drinking for courage,” Anthony said.

“What do you have to be afraid of? Why do you need courage?”

Anthony didn’t answer. He just looked at her, his eyes full of adoration.

Daisy noticed the birth Certificate on the table.

Anthony had a home now. A real home of his own.

Daisy wanted to ask something but held back. She understood what was on his mind. She let him look at

her.

“Are you tired today?” he asked suddenly. His hand on her waist moved in slow, almost absent circles.

Daisy shook her head gently. “No.”

Anthony’s gaze dropped to her lips, then to her collarbone.

Daisy followed his eyes.

He unbuttoned the first button of her shirt. His fingertip brushed lightly over her collarbone. Then his eyes met hers.

Daisy looked away quickly. Her fingers curled against his shoulders, scratching lightly–scratching his heart too.

“Hold on tight,” Anthony said.

“What?”

Before she could process it, he lifted her by the hips and carried her toward the bedroom.
