After that time he drank to get his courage up, Anthony hadn’t so much as hinted at anything like that. No suggestive comments, no wandering hands. Daisy figured next time he’d probably need another drink or two to work up the nerve.

In the bathroom, Anthony had already undressed her. Daisy crossed her arms over her chest and watched him in the mirror. He was testing the water temperature, glancing at her every so often. She quickly looked away.

He smiled and pulled her under the spray. “It’s not like we’ve never showered together before.”

“I’m not used to it.” Daisy was shy. She usually showered alone. Plus, she felt fat now–the baby weight hadn’t come off yet, and she was afraid he’d be disgusted.

“Then you’d better get used to it. We’ve only been together a year. There are plenty more ahead,” Anthony spoke softly as he lathered her up.

“Oh.”

Actually, more like half a year. The first six months were fake.

Daisy looked at him. She finally got a clear view of his abs. She smiled to herself.

Then she said, “You’re so tall.”

“Does it hurt your neck, always looking up?”

“Not really.” She grinned. “It’s just that when I want to kiss you, I can’t reach.”

Anthony’s hands stilled. He bent down and lifted her.

Daisy yelped and locked her arms around his neck, terrified of slipping in the shower.

Anthony just looked at her, his nose brushing against hers. Her legs–soft as water–were wrapped around

his waist.

“At this distance,” he said, holding her under the showerhead, “you can reach. You don’t need to stand on your toes. I’ll bend down. Whenever you want to kiss me, I’m right here.”

One word from you, and I’ll get on my knees.

Daisy had only been joking. She hadn’t expected him to take it so seriously.

But he took everything she said seriously. Even her jokes.

She looked at him.

How could he be so gentle and so ruthless at the same time?

She felt like he was bottomless. Even when he did nothing, people did everything for him.

Anthony turned the showerhead away. Hot water sprayed against the wall, and warmth bloomed behind Daisy. He pressed her against the tile.

Daisy went rigid. “Put me down.”

“You’ll get tired if I put you down.” For the first time, Anthony ignored her.

Daisy had been wrong about one thing. Anthony wasn’t just ruthless in business. In bed, he was no different. His gentleness before had all been an act.

She told him Lyra and Luna would probably wake up soon.

He grunted in acknowledgment. For the next long while, Daisy’s arms, looped around his neck, went completely numb.

Bones really did feel like they were falling apart.

By the time they came out of the bathroom, the babies were still asleep.

Anthony carried her to bed, saw that the girls hadn’t woken, and turned off the light.

Daisy had just showered, but now she was drenched in sweat again. Her arms were too sore to even hold

him.

He kissed every inch of her. She kept her eyes shut the whole time!

“Can you take it all the way?”

“What?” She heard him say something strange, his breath hot and fast in her ear.

He kissed the bridge of her nose. “I said, all the way.”

Anthony wasn’t a man of few words. He just never found topics he was interested in. But now? He had plenty to say.

At least, that was how Daisy saw it.

Lyra and Luna were about to wake up. Anthony still wasn’t done.

Daisy had turned into a puddle.

“Can you call me honey?”
