Joseph had nothing better to do and felt like getting out, so he went with Daisy. He drove Anthony’s Mercedes.
Lynn had opened her clinic on the third day of the new year. She was already there when they arrived having just finished seeing a toddler with indigestion. She was leaning back in her chair, sipping coffed, when Daisy and Joseph walked in, each carrying a baby.
“I thought you weren’t feeling well. Why’d you open so early?” Daisy sat across from her.
“I didn’t plan to. Dr. Warren had nothing to do and opened up. Turns out, tons of people got food poisoning and coughs over the holidays. If I hadn’t come to help, this place would be packed.” Lynn looked at the baby in Daisy’s arms. “Come here, let me hold you.”
Joseph sat nearby, holding Luna, watching Lynn. Her complexion was rosy–better than before the holidays.

“Where’s Lucas?” Daisy asked.
“Out front on the phone with Damian. They’re planning another get–together before the holidays end. Figuring out the details.”
Last year, Daisy and Anthony had missed it.
Joseph listened to them chat. Luna started fussing, reaching for Daisy. Daisy took her.
With nothing to do, Joseph wandered into the courtyard. He heard commotion at the gate.
He walked over.
It was Grace. She was getting out of a taxi, one hand pressed to her stomach, pale as a ghost, apologizing to the driver. No one was with her. She was leaning against the back door of the car.
Something was wrong. Joseph walked up to her. “What happened?”
Grace looked up at him, her eyes glassy. Her voice was weak. “Dizzy. I threw up.”
In the taxi.
“Forget it, forget it. Go see a doctor.” The driver frowned at his car. First fare of the day, and this happened.
Joseph put a hand on her shoulder, pulled out his phone, and scanned the QR code on the driver’s door. He transferred a thousand dollars.
The driver didn’t complain.
Joseph helped her toward the clinic.
Grace leaned most of her weight on him. Her legs wouldn’t cooperate.

Chapter 686 The Diagnosis
Joseph picked her up and carried her inside.
She went limp in his arms.
He glanced at her. Her forehead was slick with sweat. Her breathing was shallow.
Lynn saw Joseph carry a woman in and quickly handed Lyra back to Daisy.
“Lynn, come take a look.” Joseph laid her on the bed in the acupuncture room.
Lynn followed him in. “What’s wrong with her?”
“I don’t know. Found her at the gate.”

“Get out.” Lynn pulled the curtain closed. Joseph got the hint and stepped out.
Bailey went in with Lynn.
Daisy put Lyra and Luna in the stroller and pushed it over to Joseph.
“Isn’t that the neighbor’s niece?”
Joseph grunted.
Daisy smirked, “Funny how you keep running into her.”
Joseph gave her a look. She shut her mouth.
Lynn came out of the room. She handed Bailey a prescription and told her to start decocting it.
“How is she?” Daisy asked.

“Food poisoning. Ate too much random stuff, probably. She’s thrown up most of it. She’s fine now, just a little dehydrated.”
Lynn pressed a hand to her chest and massaged it lightly.
Joseph noticed she didn’t look great either. “You got food poisoning too?”
“Shut up. I’m the last person who’d get food poisoning.” Lynn sat down and drank some water.
She’d been resting at home the past few days and had felt fine. She’d thought she was just exhausted from overwork. But now the symptoms were back.
The three of them sat down. Lynn took her own pulse.
She paused. Her expression shifted subtly.
