Anthony pulled her close, his tone sharp. “Who else is there? Who exactly do you want me to be with?”

Daisy pushed him away, sounding irritated. “Focus on the right things. Don’t pick up random bad habits.”

She knew she couldn’t dive too deep into certain topics with him. He took every little thing far too seriously.

Joseph opened the door. Grace stood frozen on the doorstep, watching him step inside and hesitating whether she should follow.

She had no ID with her–only her phone in her hand. She still wore her house slippers and the sweatshirt she’d changed out of earlier that day.

On top of that, she now had the jacket she’d just given back to him draped over her shoulders.

Joseph glanced over at her, his voice steady. “Come on in.”

Grace lingered by the door, looking unsure. “Maybe I should head back to Grandpa’s place instead.”

Joseph said, “Your grandpa’s still in the hospital. If you show up looking like this, everyone will assume we’re getting married tomorrow.”

Grace’s cheeks flushed bright red in an instant, falling completely silent.

She couldn’t deny he had a solid point.

Joseph spoke up firmly. “You stay here for the night. I’ll go stay at your apartment instead.”

Grace lifted her gaze to him, the idea striking her as brilliant.

It still meant letting him stay at her place. But at least she wouldn’t be stuck sharing space with a strange man, and she’d be safe enough this way.

Noticing Grace still hovering by the door, Joseph reassured her, “Don’t worry. I’ll sleep on the couch.”

“There’s a guest room. It’s just a little messy,” Grace said as she stepped inside.

Joseph closed the door behind them.

Nervousness fluttered sharply in her chest.

“Rest for a bit first. I’ll head back to get you some clothes and grab something to eat, too,” Joseph said. He didn’t want to overstay his welcome, afraid he’d make her feel uneasy.

“Alright,” Grace murmured. She slipped off the jacket and held it out to him gently. “It’s cold outside.”

Joseph took the still–warm jacket and pulled it on, soft warmth wrapping around his body at once.

He left and headed back to the luxury penthouse. Before going upstairs, he called Grace and told her to check the security cameras to see if the strange man was still lingering outside.

Grace told him the man was still standing right at the entrance.

A faint smile tugged at Joseph’s lips, and he dialed the police right away.

The call connected moments later.

Joseph paused for two seconds before speaking to the officer on the line. “A man has been stalking me for the past couple of days, and he’s standing right outside my front door now.”

“Stalking you?” The officer on the other end fell silent in shock for a few seconds. “Someone’s stalking you -and it’s a man?”

“Yeah,” Joseph replied simply.

After the officer double–checked all the details, Joseph gave his name, phone number, and address, then waited quietly for the police to arrive.

The officers showed up shortly after. They caught sight of faint tattoos peeking out from Joseph’s neck and exchanged a quick glance with each other.

“Did you make the police report?” one officer asked.

“That’s me,” Joseph confirmed.

“Is the man still upstairs?”

“Yeah, he is.”

The three of them stepped into the elevator together.

The second the elevator doors slid open, the man panicked instantly. He tried to bolt away, only to be grabbed and pulled back by the officers.

“We hear you’ve been stalking this man for days now?” an officer asked bluntly.

The man stared wide–eyed at Joseph, looking utterly baffled. “Officer, are you kidding me? Me stalking him?”

Joseph stepped aside quietly.

The second officer frowned sharply at the man. “Then what exactly are you doing loitering outside his place every single day?”

The man almost laughed out loud at how ridiculous the situation was. He badly wanted to yank open Joseph’s shirt and show the officers the truth.

No one would ever dare stalk someone like him.

“Look, Officer, I’m a decent, law–abiding man,” the man protested.

Joseph cut in dryly, “I’m a decent guy, too.”

The man was speechless for a moment, then rushed to explain himself to the officers. “I swear on everything—I’m not into men at all. I’m just here looking for my girlfriend.”

“Where’s your girlfriend then? Have her come out,” the officer demanded.

“She…” The man hesitated, trailing off awkwardly.

“I live alone,” Joseph stated plainly.

“That’s not true!” the man argued. “I saw someone inside his place today. He’s covered head to toe in tattoos, and he’s even abusive!”

“And you still claim you weren’t stalking him?” the officer said skeptically.

The man muttered an exasperated curse under his breath.

“Come on, you’re coming down to the station with us,” the officer ordered.

“I’m being framed, Officer!” the man shouted loudly.

He glared furiously at Joseph, his tone full of menace. “You just wait for this.”

“Officer, he’s threatening me,” Joseph pointed out calmly.

The officers shoved the man straight back into the elevator. “Threatening people? Keep this attitude up, and you’ll be locked up for a while.”

Joseph offered the two officers a polite smile. “Thanks for your hard work, officers.”

He then turned his cold gaze toward the detained man.

The man seethed with frustration, having no way to defend himself at all.

“Be careful,” one officer said to Joseph right before the elevator doors began to close.
