She had the power to use stocks to send him to prison, so it was no surprise that she also knew how to get
him out.
Augustus fell silent. “Let me think about it.”
The phone call ended, and Seraphina absently played with her phone.
In Harbor Zone No. 1 of Pyrin, workers moved with focused determination. Eight or nine excavators rumbled to life, their engines purring as they dug into the earth, while supervisors watched from the sidelines, keeping a vigilant eye on the proceedings.
The land around them was desolate and empty, but this particular plot thrived with activity.
One of the excavator operators paused to sip his tea, wiping the sweat from his brow before returning to his task. But as the bucket dug deeper, he felt resistance.
He tried pressing a few buttons, but the bucket remained firmly lodged.
He called out to the workers above, “There’s something down there that’s stuck.”
A group of workers rushed over, and the supervisor quickly directed a few of them, “Go down and check it out. Did we hit a large rock?”
The selected workers jumped into the pit, their shovels scraping the earth as they carefully dug away. Slowly, something wrapped in mud began to take shape beneath their hands.
“What is it?” came the call from above.
“It looks like a rock. A very big one.”
Two workers worked together to clear the mud from the surface of the object. At first, they thought it was just a large stone, but as they continued, it became clear that the stone stretched far deeper than they had
anticipated.
“My goodness, what kind of rock is this? It’s massive!” one of the workers exclaimed.
“It looks like a flagstone,” another murmured.
“That’s some fine material–such a huge chunk.”
“This stone won’t budge. The excavator can’t get through,” someone noted, frustration rising.
Above, the workers continued to speculate, their curiosity piqued.
Realizing that the workers below were moving slowly and still hadn’t uncovered the full extent of the stone, the supervisor called for reinforcements. Four or five more workers descended into the pit, and after several minutes of intense digging, they finally revealed the full shape of the object.
The workers below shouted, “There’s writing on this stone! It’s covered in dense characters.”
The workers above exchanged intrigued glances and quickly gathered at the edge of the pit to get a closer

The supervisor instructed the excavator to clear away the surrounding earth, and within moments, the tip of something far larger began to emerge from beneath the surface.
“It’s an ancient tomb,” someone gasped in astonishment.
A ripple of excitement spread across the construction site, as workers quickly gathered around the pit, eager to see what had been unearthed.
“That’s a monument! It’s massive. The tomb beneath must be enormous.”
“There’s bound to be plenty of antiques inside.”
The workers exchanged uncertain glances, their gaze turning to the supervisor for guidance.
“What should we do now?”
The supervisor, seasoned by years of overseeing construction sites, had encountered his fair share of grave diggings, but this was the first time he had come across an ancient tomb. This area wasn’t known for its archaeological discoveries.
With a quiet sigh, the supervisor pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
Twenty minutes later, the news reached Oberon.
“What did you say?” Oberon asked, his voice thick with disbelief.
Jane repeated the message calmly. “An ancient tomb was uncovered at the harbor zone construction site. It’s believed to be a large tomb.”
A wave of dizziness washed over Oberon as the gravity of the situation sank in.
“Mr. Whitewood,” Jane said, his tone laced with concern.
If word of the ancient tomb were to leak, the project would come to a grinding halt. A single day lost meant hundreds of thousands of dollars in potential losses. Oberon was well aware of the painstaking pace at which such tombs were excavated–sometimes, it took years to complete the work.
A year or more of delay? His company couldn’t possibly endure that kind of setback.
“Tell everyone to secure the site. We cannot let this get out,” Oberon commanded, his voice low and determined.
Jane hesitated, clearly troubled. “Mr. Whitewood, if someone discovers it, we may not be able to explain this to the higher–ups.”
