The Alpha Slipped Inside The Wrong Sister novel Chapter 139

Evie’s pov

A stunned silence followed Ryan’s declaration and even the reporters looked shocked. Because Alpha Ryan Storme had just publicly admitted he was willing to give up his title for me and Atlas. For us.

He was choosing us.

The council leader sounded absolutely furious over the phone, horrified that Ryan wasn’t agreeing to his terms publicly. “Do you hear yourself!?” He thundered through the speaker. “You would abandon your pack over a woman?”

Ryan’s expression darkened murderously. “Watch how you speak about my mate. She is not just any woman.”

“You are acting unreasonable Alpha Ryan,” the council leader snapped. “Your duty is to the Silver Blood pack.”

“My duty,” Ryan said in a deadly tone. “Is to protect my family.”

My breath caught. The reporters practically erupted again at his words.

“Alpha Ryan is openly rejecting the council!”

“Is he really stepping down?!”

Camera flashes exploded violently around Ryan. Gavin looked seconds away from a massive migraine while Quincy looked outright pleased. Then the council leader’s voice suddenly lowered into something far more icier. “If you step down now, your enemies will descend on your territory.”

Ryan doesn’t say a word.

The man continued. “The moment word spreads that the Silver Blood pack is leaderless, other Alphas including rogues will challenge for dominance.”

A chill race down my spine.

“You would leave your people vulnerable?” the man demanded sharply and Ryan pauses for a moment.

Suddenly another voice comes through the speaker, this time more soft. It was a familiar voice. One of the council men who came that night to bring Ryan and Gavin to the council. “Alpha Ryan. I believe enough damage has been done publicly for one day,” He said in a calm tone. “This conversation will continue privately. Please, don’t force our hand.”

When he doesn’t get a response from Ryan, he continues. “Listen carefully. Refusing the council publicly was already dangerous.” A short, tense pause followed. “But publicly declaring willingness to abandon your Alpha title for your mate and child? That has painted targets on all three of you. Your enemies know your weakness now.”

My stomach twisted and with my heart pounding, I stared at Ryan. I can see that the wheels in his head were turning. He knew that the council leader and man were right. Yet….he was still choosing us.

My heart squeezed and before I could stop myself, I stepped out of the house and walk over to him. Murmurs move around the air as others question why I came back. But. I paid little attention to them and stop beside Ryan.

“Then we stand beside him. I intend to be his Luna. I will stand beside him as his Luna.” I said firmly and looked at Ryan intensely. He sucks in a sharp breath and my eyes soften. He had been choosing us and now…..we would choose him.

The world around us seemed to vanish for a moment. The reporters. The cameras. The questions. My father still kneeling on the ground coughing up blood…..the council listening through the phone.

None of it mattered right now.

Except for Ryan.

Serena practically purred inside me. ‘There she is.’

A shaky breath left Ryan’s chest as he stared at me with so much emotion running through his eyes. “Evie….”

I stepped closer until I was nearly pressed against him. “You don’t get to sacrifice everything alone Ryan. You don’t have to leave your position as leader of the Silver Blood pack for our sake because……..I choose you too. I will be your Luna. I will…..lead with you,” I whispered. “If you stand and fight for us, then we stand and fight for you too.”

Ryan stared at me like he couldn’t quite believe what he had just heard come from my mouth.

Like after everything between us….every rejection, every misunderstanding, every ounce of pain…..he never truly thought I would still choose him in the end.

Apex went completely silent inside him, the earlier storm of fury dwindling into nothing now. The rage rolling off Ryan moments ago seemed to calm beneath my words completely.

“She accepted him publicly!”

“Did Evie Gold just confirm she’ll become Luna?”

“Get closer to her!”

Ryan never looked away from me as the words exploded around us. Not even once.

His hand slowly came up and cupped the side of my face gently, almost like he was scared his touch would break me. “Do you mean that?” he asked quietly, the crack in his voice betraying how much my words meant to him.

“Yes, with everything in me,” I whispered, my own voice cracking from the emotions I cannot seem to hide. “I mean it.”

A shuddering breath left him and suddenly he pulled me against him hard enough that he stole the air from my lungs. The reporters completely lose their minds as they gasp out.

“The Alpha and his true mate are embracing publicly!”

“Look at them!”

“Get the cameras closer!”

Ryan buried his face into my hair for a moment and I felt the slight tremble that moved through his body. He was holding himself back from showing too much emotion but I felt it. When he pulls away, he stares down into my eyes like he was staring

into my soul.

“You have no idea what those words mean to me. How much you mean to me,” he murmured against my forehead before planting a soft kiss there. Serena melted completely inside me, purring happily.

Suddenly a sharp irritated voice boomed from the phone. “Alpha Ryan, Evie Gold, you are both hereby ordered to appear betore the council before nightfall,” The council leader gritted, seeming to be annoyed.

Gavin’s grip on the phone tightens before he looks at the cameras. “Let me make this clear to every single one of you. You bring harm to the Silver Blood pack and you’d be starting a war with me too,” he looks at me, his eyes softening. “The Midnight Ridge pack stand by Alpha Ryan and Luna Evie. We have set the alliance in stone.”

He was not only talking to us and the council, but millions of people who were watching us live. He was cementing our alliance

My eyes blur.

‘Thank you Gavin,’ I whisper through the mind link.

“You’ are family Evie, we stand by you always,” he replied quietly through the link before raising his chin toward the cameras again. “Any threat against Luna Evie, her child or her mate will be viewed as a threat against Midnight Ridge.”

The reporters spewed louder than before. “Two Alpha packs have now been united!”

“The Silver Blood and Midnight Ridge alliance has been confirmed live!”

My father’s face twisted with fury and disbelief as he slowly dragged himself upright from the ground. Blood stained his mouth while hatred burned violently in his eyes.

“You’re all blind,” He spat harshly. “That girl destroys everything she touches and now she’ll destroy two packs instead of one. This is only the beginning of the downfall of the pack.”

Quincy barked out a cold laugh from the doorway. “Someone shut that old man up already.”

Ryan’s arm wrapped firmly around my waist as if daring anyone to come near me. He holds me to him protectively.

The council leader suddenly spoke again through the phone. “Alpha Ryan. Luna Evie,” My breath staggered in my throat a little at the title. “You will both appear before the council tonight. This is no longer a request.”

Ryan’s jaw clenched and I squeezed his hand. He looks at me and I smiled at him reassuringly. “We will be there,” I replied firmly.

“This conversation will continue tonight. Until then, remove the media from your territory and regain control of your pack before rumors spiral further,” He pauses. “That is not only advice for your pack, Alpha Ryan. It is advice for your family.” The council leader continues, this time his voice a lot more calmer than it had been moments ago. “We will see you two tonight.”

The line went dead after that.

“Beta Gold, any response to Midnight Ridge supporting Evie?!” One of the reporters suddenly questions.

My father looked utterly humiliated standing there covered in dirt and blood while the attention shifted away from him completely. His eyes locked onto me with so much hatred that it makes me wonder what I had really done to him for him to regard me with that much intensity.

“You should’ve died when you run away,” he hissed venomously.
