The Alpha’s Mafia Luna
Chapter 108
The morning light didn’t feel golden today. It was pale. Cold. It crept through the blinds like an unwelcome guest.
I sat curled on Naia’s couch in one of her oversized sweatshirts, my bare legs tucked under me, staring blankly at the wall like it held answers. The mark on
my neck pulsed faintly–steady, rhythmic, as if it had its own heartbeat..
Damian’s heartbeat.
I could feel him. Not his thoughts exactly. But his presence. Like heat hovering over my skin even though he wasn’t here.
I hated it.
I hated that it comforted me.
Naia walked in with two mugs of coffee and sat beside me, her brown curls still messy from sleep, her skin glowing effortlessly even in the morning fog.
“You didn’t sleep again, huh?”
I shook my head.
She handed me the coffee, then looked at me like she was reading my soul. “You feel him, don’t you?”
I hesitated. “A little. Not like a full mind–link. But… he’s there.”
Naia didn’t say anything right away. She leaned back, sipping her drink. “Girl. This is deep. This is that ‘soul–thread, blood–warmed, make–you–sweat–in-
your–dreams‘ kind of connection.”
1 groaned. “Please stop.”
“I’m just saying. He marked you. That means your bodies–and hearts–are syncing whether you like it or not.”
“He had no right.”
Naia arched a brow, “Did you say no?”
That silence was loud,
I looked away, ashamed.
“I’m not judging,” she added quickly. “But I know you, Serene, You wouldn’t have let him get that close unless something in you still wanted him.”
“I don’t want this. Not like this.”
“I believe you,” she said softly. “But now you’ve got a choice to make. You either face what this bond means… or you let it ruin you.”
Before I could answer, my phone buzzed,
Lucas.

I let it ring.
Again.
Naia’s eyes flicked to the screen. “You gonna ghost your boss now?”
“I need time.”
“You better hurry. That man’s got stalker energy when it comes to you.”
She wasn’t wrong.
I got dressed anyway, forcing myself into a crisp blouse and jeans, trying to hide the mark beneath a thick scarf. I applied foundation on top of it, then
added more concealer. But I knew it was still there. Hidden or not, that bond had sunk its claws in.
At the office, things felt… off.
Lucas spotted me the second I walked in. His light brown skin looked flushed with tension, his jaw tight. His dark eyes locked on my neck, narrowing when
he saw the scarf.
“Serene,” he said lowly, stepping into my path.
“I’m late,” I muttered, brushing past him.
“Don’t do that,” he said, catching my wrist.
The air tightened between us. His grip wasn’t rough, but it was firm. Protective. And I felt Damian’s bond snap in protest from miles away.
Lucas noticed me flinch. “What happened?”
“Nothing.”
He tugged the scarf back gently.
When he saw the mark, his face changed. Shock. Then fury.
“You let him do this to you?”
I stepped back. “Lucas-”
*After everything? After he left you? After what he did to your family-?”
“You don’t know what happened,” I snapped.
“I know enough,” he bit back. “I know he doesn’t deserve you.”
I opened my mouth to reply–but the scent hit me.
Cedarwood. Citrus. Fire.

I turned.
Damian stood in the doorway of the office in a dark navy suit, his skin warm like bronze, his build towering. His curls were still damp, like he’d just showered. His eyes? Stormy blue.
The bond flared between us. And Lucas felt it.
“Of course,” Lucas muttered. “You just couldn’t stay away.”
Damian’s voice was calm. Dangerous. “You have no right to talk to her like that.”
“She’s my employee. I can talk to her however I want.”
I stepped between them. “Enough.”
Neither man moved.
“I said enough,” I repeated, louder. “You two don’t get to fight over me like I’m a damn object.”
Damian’s eyes softened. “You’re not an object, Serene. You’re mine.”
“No,” I snapped. “I’m not. You marked me without asking. You took my choice.”
“You didn’t stop me,” he growled.
“I shouldn’t have to fight you off to keep my freedom!”
Lucas stepped forward. “You heard her. Get out.”
“I’m not leaving her with you,” Damian said..
“Try me.”
I backed away, chest heaving. “I don’t want either of you right now.”
They both froze.
“I’m done being the rope in your tug–of–war,” I said, voice cracking. “I need space. From both of you.”
Then I turned and walked out. Not looking back,
Down the elevator. Past the lobby. Into the cold, overcast air. I didn’t cry until I hit the alley behind the building.
And I screamed.
I screamed like something had been clawing at my soul for weeks and I’d finally torn it out.
When I finally slid down the wall, shaking, I felt the mark burn.
My heart thumped in sync with the bond.

Damian was near.
But he didn’t say a word.
Didn’t try to stop me.
He just stood at the edge of the alley, watching me. Like a king who didn’t know how to beg.
And then I
heard it–soft, deep, through the mark.
“You can run, Serene… but I’ll always find you.”
I closed my eyes.
And I hated that part of me… wanted him to.
