But she just tilted her head and smiled.
That smile wasn’t the one I knew.
This wasn’t the girl I had laughed with, cried with, thared secrets with
This was someone else.
A stranger wearing her face.
“You know, Serene,” she said, crouching beside me, her fingers lazily twirling a knife, “I thought I would feel bad. Hurting you like this.
But I don’t. I feel… free.”
I stared at her, too stunned to even cry.
“I kept thinking, “Why her? Why does she always win? Why does she always get what I want?” she hissed. “Even now, you still think you’re the victim. That you’re some poor princess chained in a tower.”
“You don’t know what I’ve lost,” I whispered.
Nala laughed, cold and loud. “You lost your father. So what? I never had une. You had love, comfort, a future. I had scraps. And when I finally fasted power, I realized I’d been starving my whole life”
Her eyes gleamed with something twisted. “And you… Serene… You’re the key to giving me everything I’ve ever wanted.”
“The Elders,” I murmured.
“Oh yes,” she said with a grin. “They want your blood. You’re the last royal of your bloodline, Serene. The daughter of the true king. You

were born for sacrifice.”
My stomach turned. “They’re going to kill me.”
:
“No,” she whispered, brushing hair from my face like a lover would. “They’re going to use you. Drain you. Piece by piece. But don’t worry…” She stood. “I’ll make sure you last longer than they planned.”
I closed my eyes.
And whispered through the bond.
Damian.
Nothing.
Just silence.
Damian, please… if you can hear me. I’m sorry. I didn’t let you explain. I didn’t trust you. But I need you now… I need you.
Still nothing.
Tears burned the corners of my eyes. My body was too weak to cry. I was losing strength, fading.
Until-
Something shifted.
The air changed.
It was like the ground trembled beneath me. A pulse ran through the room.
Then I felt it–heat.
Burning, alive, rushing toward me.
And Naia froze.
“What is that?” she whispered.
Footsteps echoed,
Heavy, slow, powerful.

Then-
BOOM!
The metal doors slammed open, crashing into the walls.
Smoke and dust filled the chamber, and through the haze, I saw him.
Damian.
His eyes glowed gold. His chest rose and fell with effort. He was shirtless, bandaged across one side, bruised, clearly still recovering.
But he looked dangerous.
Wild.
Unstoppable.
“Step away from her,” he growled.
Naia backed up, startled. “You shouldn’t be here–you’re not supposed to be able to-”
“I came,” he cut in, “because she called.”
My heart jumped.
“I heard her. Every broken thought. Every whisper. Every time she said my name.”
I blinked. “Damian…”
“Don’t speak,” he said gently, his eyes flickering to me. “I’ve got you.”
Two Elders appeared from the shadows, wearing robes covered in symbols, eyes dark and ancient.
“You’re not strong enough to fight us,” one said.
But Damian didn’t flinch. “Maybe not. But she is.”
I blinked. “What?”
Naia laughed. “She hasn’t even shifted.”
“She will,” he said confidently. “Because I’m here. And you touched what’s mine.”

Chapter 116
The Elders moved first, casting a bright bolt of energy toward him.
Damian blocked it with his arm, flinching but still standing.
Then something inside me cracked.
:.
A scream built in my chest–painful, raw, full of centuries of rage that weren’t even mine.
My blood boiled.
My bones burned.
I screamed.
The chains snapped.
My body arched.
Then everything went white.
C
Fur burst from my skin, silver and glowing with an otherworldly light. My eyes burned gold. My limbs stretched and reshaped. I shifted.
Not into a normal wolf.
No.
I was something older. Royal. My wolf form stood taller than the others–horns like moonlight curled from my head, my tail shimmered, and my fur glowed softly in the darkness.
Everyone froze.
Even the Elders.
Even Naja.,
“Impossible,” one Elder whispered. “She’s not just royalty… she’s ancestral.”
I growled, low and dangerous.
And leapt.
I tore into one of them, sending him crashing into the stone walls. Damian lunged for the second, finishing the job.

And the bond snapped into place, whole and unbreakable.
A rush of energy slammed into both of us. His scent filled my nose, my mouth, my soul.
“I love you,” he said.
I gasped, “I love you too?
His forehead rested against mine.
