Chapter 25
Unknown POV
“Path clear,” the driver said calmly into his comms.
The black SUV pulled over by the alleyway, exactly where it was supposed to. In seconds, another vehicle–a larger black van–rolled
out from a shadowed side street, its windows heavily tinted and
engine silent as a whisper. The back doors swung open.
Two masked figures stepped out, one carrying a needle, the other a
cloth soaked with whatever was needed to make sure she stayed
unconscious. One of them peered into the car.
“She’s out,” he confirmed. “They didn’t even fight.”
Selene was limp in the backseat, her head resting against the window,
her face peaceful, unaware. It almost felt wrong.
Almost,
They moved quickly. One of them took her under the arms, the other by her legs. With practiced efficiency, they transferred her into the van like a package, careful not to disturb the sleeping girl too much.

The door slammed shut behind them, followed by a soft click–secure.
The driver gave a low whistle. “Let’s move. We’ve got about ten
minutes before anyone realizes something’s off.”
The van drove off with no headlights. No screeching tires. Just
silence.
Mira’s POV
My eyes snapped open.
The first thing I noticed was the stillness. A kind of wrong stillness.
My head throbbed, like I’d been hit with a hammer wrapped in fog.
My throat burned. Something felt… off.
I sat up slowly, blinking against the low interior light of the car. The streetlights outside blurred through the windows.
Where the hell-?
“Selene?” My voice cracked. I turned to the seat beside me and froze,
She wasn’t there.
My heart dropped instantly. The driver’s seat was empty too.

“What the hell?” I whispered.
Only one person was left in the car–the guard. He sat stiffly in the
front passenger seat like nothing happened, like it was a normal day.
Like he hadn’t just watched two people disappear.
“What the f–Where’s Selene?” I shouted.
He didn’t turn. Didn’t move.
I leaned forward and shook his shoulder hard. “Hey! Where the hell is
she?!”
He blinked slowly, like he was coming out of a daze. “I–I don’t
know… I don’t remember…”
Bullshit.
I snatched my phone from my coat pocket, my fingers already flying
across the screen.
Damian.
Pick up. Pick up, Pick up.
The line rang once. Twice.

He answered on the third.
“Mira?”
“She’s gone!” I shouted before he could say anything else. “Selene’s
gone. We were on our way home. She saw you with Layla, and then
the guard in the front sprayed something–and then–I just woke up
and she’s not here! Damian, she’s gone!”
For a moment, there was no sound. Just his breath.
Then his voice turned cold. “Where are you now?”
“Still in the car. Parked near that street with the closed flower shop.”
“Stay there. I’m coming.”
He hung up before I could say anything else.
I threw my phone onto the seat beside me and pressed my palms
against my face. My lungs felt too tight. My chest wouldn’t stop
heaving.
She was gone.
I couldn’t remember anything after that gas. I didn’t know how long

I’d been out. Minutes? Hours?
How the hell did this happen?
Writer’s POV
Damian arrived in less than five minutes.
His car skidded to a stop behind Mira’s. He didn’t wait for the door to
open–he yanked it himself.
“Tell me everything,” he demanded.
Mira stumbled out, shaking. “We went shopping. She said she didn’t
even want anything, she just wanted out of the house. I thought she
was fine, just a little moody.”
“And then?”
“We were driving back. She saw you with Layla in the café. She made
the driver stop. We talked–she said something about being Luna and
how she felt off seeing you two together. And then… the guard
sprayed something! Gas or whatever it was. I tried to stop him,
Damian–I swear I did. Then I passed out.”
Damian was already on the move. He circled the car, opened the

driver’s side door, and scanned for traces. Nothing but faint residue
on the seat, a slight shimmer on the air vent–enough for someone
trained to know what had been used.
“An aerosol sedative,” he muttered, jaw tight.
He didn’t look surprised. Just pissed.
Mira grabbed his arm. “Where would they take her?”
“If I knew, I’d be there already.”
“But you said you were watching her-”
“I was.”
Mira stared at him. “Then how did this happen?”
“I don’t know.”
Unknown POV
Inside the van, Selene remained still, her breathing soft, her hair brushing against her cheek. One of the masked men checked her
vitals.
