The Alpha's Mafia Luna novel Chapter 35

Chapter 35

Selene’s POV

The air outside hit harder than I expected.

It wasn’t the wind. It wasn’t the cold.

It was the silence.

But not the same silence, from inside that metal coffin I’d been kept

  1. in. No, this was louder. Heavier. Like the sky was holding its breath,

watching, waiting for something to snap.

I stumbled out behind Mira, blinking against the headlights from the

black SUVs parked by the treeline. Ivy was on the comms, barking out

coordinates. Reed stood on guard, watching our flank. My knees

almost buckled, but Mira’s hand caught me fast.

You okay?she asked quickly.

I nodded. Sort of.

The world felt tilted. Offbalance.

Chapter 35

The mansion we escaped from loomed behind us, but what haunted

me more was what had been underneath it. No one told me that place

went that deep. That far down into the earth. That dark.

How deep did that house go?I whispered. I didn’t know it was like

that.

You weren’t supposed to,Mira said, her voice low. You weren’t

meant to ever see daylight again.

I swallowed, my throat still raw from the gas. Howhow did you

find me?

She looked at me, and for a second, her expression softened. But then

she exhaled, heavy and bitter.

Flashback to three nights ago,she muttered. You’re not gonna

believe it.

Flashback Three Nights Ago

Writer’s POV

The sound of rapid typing filled the dark operations room.

Ivy sat with her legs pulled up in the chair, screens glowing around

her like magic. Her fingers flew across the keyboard, tracking heat

signatures, rerouting signal intercepts, and tearing through corrupted

security feeds.

We’ve got movement near Sector Nine, she said, scanning.

Reed leaned against the back wall, eyes narrowed. That’s ghost

territory. No one lives out there anymore.

Exactly,Ivy snapped. So why is someone scrambling encrypted

files in realtime? Either they’re hiding something.. or someone.

That was all Mira needed to hear.

Cut to: A dark highway, armored vans speeding through the night.

Mira leaned over a digital map. We’re breaching from the east wing.

Entry point C.

Are you sure this is where she is?one of the soldiers asked.

Mira’s eyes were like fire. I’d bet my life on it.

Cut to: Inside the fortress. Smoke bombs. Tactical flashlights.

Screams. Metal doors blown off their hinges.

Clear!

Target room found!

And thenMira burst through the smoke.

Selene!

Back to Present

I wrapped my arms around myself as the flashback faded.

Still shaking.

Still remembering the eyes of the masked man, the way he stared

through me like he already owned my skin.

My lips cracked as I whispered, Where’s Damian?

Mira paused. She didn’t look at me. She didn’t answer right away. She

just clenched her jaw.

I don’t know, she said quietly. We lost comms with his team ten

minutes ago.

My heart skipped. He was here?

We think he tracked Mark separately. We thinkhe might’ve gone to

face him alone.

My legs moved before I could think. “I need to find him-

Selene!Mira grabbed my wrist. You just escaped a literal hellhole.

You’re not going anywhere alone.

I’m not staying in this car while he’s out there!I snapped.

Mira cursed under her breath, then nodded to one of the soldiers. Go

with her. Keep her in sight.

Five Minutes Later

Writer’s POV

The forest behind the mansion was quieter than expected.

Too quiet.

Moonlight slithered through the trees like silver knives. Fog kissed

the ground. And in the middle of that silencetwo shadows stood

inches apart.

Damian stood still. Hands by his sides. Calm, calculating. But tension

rippled in his shoulders.

Mark paced like a viper. Smiling. That same twisted smile he always

wore when someone else was bleeding.

You took what belonged to me,Mark hissed. His voice echoed like it

wasn’t even human. You ruined it.

Damian said nothing. His eyes never left Mark’s handthe one

holding a silver pistol.

Mark circled him slowly.

Her name was Layla,he whispered. You remember her, don’t you? Sweet Layla. I met her in ShopRite. Can you believe that? A damn grocery store. She dropped a can of soup. I picked it up.

touched. And I knew.

Our hands

He laughed, but there was no humor in it. She was mine from the start. Meant to be. Destiny. Then you showed up with your Alpha face and your stupid silent act. She liked that. Women always like the ones

who say less. It makes them think you have depth.
