The Alpha's Mafia Luna novel Chapter 36

Chapter 36

Selene’s POV.

It was instant, searing, like fire ripping through flesh and bone. I didn’t even register the sound of the gunjust the impact. A white- hot explosion in my lower abdomen. Then the blood. Warm and thick, gushing out fast, soaking my shirt, my hands. I staggered back as if

the world tilted on its axis.

Then another pain. Sharper. My mouth filled with the metallic taste of blood. I coughed, crimson spilling from my lips.

I had taken the bullet.

I didn’t think. I just moved. My body had shielded Damian. His

No. No, no, noSelene!Damian’s voice cracked. It wasn’t the voice

of the calm, brooding Alpha anymore. It was raw. Desperate.

Terrified.

My vision blurred as I looked up at him. His face was pale, lips parted

in disbelief. He caught me gently, cradling me like something

precious and broken.

II’m sorry,I whispered, tears mixing with blood as they slid down

my cheek. I couldn’t let him hurt you.

Mira’s silhouette cut through the chaos, sprinting toward us with wild eyes.

Selene!she screamed, falling to her knees beside me. No, no, no.

Not you. Not now.

She tore part of her sleeve and pressed it hard against the wound on

my abdomen. The pain made my spine arch. I cried out, my hands

gripping Damian’s arm weakly.

Stay with me,Mira begged. Come on, Selene. Don’t you dare close

your eyes.

I couldn’t help it. My eyelids fluttered. Everything felt cold now. My

limbs were heavy. Distant. The sound around me began to muffle, like

I was underwater.

Damian shook me gently. Selene, look at me. Keep your eyes open.

I tried. But the pain

Then I heard it.

Laughter.

That psychotic, twisted laugh I’d heard before.

Mark.

He stood just a few feet away, the gun still in his hand, head tilted

back as if he was proud of what he’d done. His mask had been ripped

off earlier in the struggle, and I could see the mania in his eyes.

You took what belonged to me, Alpha Damian,Mark said, voice low,

venomous. Layla was mine. She loved me.

Damian’s face was carved from stone, but his rage was boiling under

the surface. His jaw tightened, his eyes gleaming with fury.

Mark stepped closer, waving the gun lazily. I saw her first. I met her

at the ShopRite. Beautiful, sweet Layla. I talked to her. She smiled at

  1. me. But youyou swooped in like a knight. You stole her.

Damian said nothing.

I watched you with her,Mark continued. And I hated you. Every

second of it. I dreamed about skinning you alive, Alpha boy. But now

His eyes flicked down to me, bleeding and gasping in Damian’s

arms. Now I thinkmaybe I like Selene more.

My heart stuttered. Even dying, his words felt like a violation.

Damian’s breath grew ragged. His entire body was shakingnot from

fear, but from a rage so deep it made the air vibrate around him.

You’re sick,Mira spat, still holding pressure to my wound.

Mark smiled. And yet, I always get what I want.

That was it.

Damian’s arms slowly slipped away from me. He stood, every muscle

in his body coiled tight.

Stay with her,he growled to Mira, his voice deeper than I’d ever

heard. It wasn’t just anger. It was the voice of something ancient.

Alpha.

And then he was gone.

A blur.

Faster than sound, faster than light. He crashed into Mark with such force I swore the ground shook. They hit a tree, and the entire trunk cracked like a spine splitting in half. Bark exploded. Mark’s body slammed against it, and Damian didn’t stop. He pulled him by the

throat and threw him again, this time through another tree.

Mark’s laugh echoed, broken and mad.

YES! This is what I wanted!he screamed. Fight me, Alpha!

Damian growled, low and inhuman. It rolled through the trees like

thunder.

I watched, my vision dimming, as they foughtMark, crazed and

brutal, swinging a silver blade that nicked Damian’s arm. Blood

sprayed. Damian didn’t flinch. He gripped Mark’s wrist and crushed it

with a sickening snap.

Still, Mark grinned.

Then, everything changed.

Mark stumbled back a few feet, crouched low. His body began to shift.

Bones cracked. Muscles swelled. Fur burst from his skin. A horrifying

scream turned into a snarl.

He was transforming.

His wolf was massive. Dark gray and wildeyed, lips curled back in a

twisted grin. He didn’t look like a normal werewolfhe looked wrong.

Warped. Something that shouldn’t exist.

Get ready, Alpha, the wolf snarled. Let’s see how mighty you really

are.

And Damian

He dropped to his knees, head bowed.

The wind stilled.

Even Mark froze for a second.

Then-

A howl.

Deep. Dominant. Ancient.

I felt it shake through my bones. Through my soul.

Damian exploded into his true form, and for the first time in my life, I

saw the Alpha inside him.
