Chapter 50
The morning sun poured through the grand windows of Damian’s
room, bathing everything in a soft golden glow. I lay beneath the
covers, heart pounding, trying to stay still.
Next to me, Damian slept – or at least, he pretended to.
His bare chest rose and fell steadily, the tattoos scattered across his
muscles standing out even more vividly in the sunlight. His dark hair
was a little messy from sleep, and his strong arms were relaxed
against the pillow.
He looked… unreal.
Like something out of a dream I never wanted to wake up from.
I bit my lip, cheeks heating furiously as I turned slightly to get a
better look at him. Every little detail the slight scruff on his jaw,

the proud line of his nose, the curve of his lips made my chest
tighten with something fierce and tender.
And he smelled so good.
Like pine and wild rain and something warm and male and entirely

Damian.
I sighed under my breath, pressing my hand against the pillow to stop
myself from reaching out to touch him.
But I wasn’t careful enough.
Damian’s arm shot out with lightning speed, catching my wrist
gently.
I yelped softly.
His eyes opened, dark and glinting with amusement. A slow, sinful
smile curved his lips.
“You’re terrible at sneaking, little wolf,” he said, voice rough with
sleep.
“I wasn’t sneaking!” I protested weakly.
He chuckled, the deep rumble vibrating through his chest. He tugged me closer, so I ended up half lying across him, my cheek pressed against the hard muscles of his shoulder.
“You were staring,” he teased, voice a low murmur against my hair.

I let out a tiny groan and tried to pull back, but his arm just tightened
around me, locking me against him.
“Don’t hide,” he said softly. “I like it when you look at me like that.”
I went still, my heart flipping over in my chest.
Damian’s hand slid up to cup the back of my head, his fingers
threading through my hair. He tilted my head up slightly so he could
look into my eyes.
“You’re mine, Selene,” he said quietly, voice rough with something
deeper than desire. “You don’t have to be shy with me.”
My breath caught in my throat.

I wanted to say something anything but the look in his eyes stole
every word from me.
He leaned down, his lips brushing my forehead in a feather–light kiss.
Then another against my temple. Then my cheek.

I shivered against him.
He chuckled lowly, clearly pleased with my reaction.
But just when his lips brushed dangerously close to my own, there
was a sharp knock at the door.
Damian cursed under his breath, resting his forehead against mine
for a moment.
“Saved by the damn knock,” he muttered.
I giggled softly, and he finally let me go — but not before stealing one
last kiss against the tip of my nose.
“Come in,” he called lazily.
The door creaked open, and Mira peeked her head in with a
