The Alpha's Unclaimed Mate (Jason and Laila) by Caroline Above Story novel Chapter 362

Chapter 362

Laila’s POV

“What are you talking about?” gasped. “Jason isn’t dangerous. Not to me or to Ava.

“You didn’t see him as I did,” Richard insisted. “The man became completely feral.”

“Only because he thought I was in danger. He will do anything to protect me, not the opposite!” I leaned forward. “Where is he, uncle? What have you done with him?”

He scoffed, “You look at me with such accusing eyes, like I would have done anything to him that he did not deserve. The man was feral. He attacked me. He is in the dungeon, awaiting trial for his actions. But do not expect me to give him a kind

judgement, after what he has done.”

“I need to speak with him,” I said.

“No,” Richard said. “Absolutely not.”

“He was only protecting me, I’m sure of it,” I said. “If I could see him, and he could see I’m okay, he would calm down. I’m sure of it.”

“It’s too late for that,” Richard said. “An Alpha must always keep their head, and he lost his so quickly. He cannot be trusted with his freedom.”

“Then let us leave. Let us go home.”

“No,” Richard said, standing. “You will stay here where I can keep you safe. That’s non-negotiable.”

Larry knocked on the door and opened it. “Excuse me, Alpha, but it is time for the princess to receive a checkup.”

Richard glared at me, then at Larry. I sat tall and proud, unwilling to be intimidated, but Larry inched closer to the door.

“Fine,” Richard said. “This discussion is finished anyway.”

He stormed out of the room. Larry stepped back quickly to give him space. When he was gone, Larry came into the room and closed the door behind him.

He approached me slowly, glancing back several times at the door.

“You need to be careful with him,” Larry whispered. Looking at me, taking me in, he said, “I can help you leave the pack.”

“I’m not leaving without Jason,” I said. Though, knowing Jason, if he sensed I was gone from the pack, he wo way out. “Or the cure for wolfsbane.”

“You can live without it,” Larry said.

“It’s for Ava,” I said. “She’s too young. She has so many medical problems. We came here for that cure, and I won’t leave without it.”

“If you stay here, you will face dangers,” Larry said. “Please, princess. Leave while you can.”

“I won’t. Ava needs that cure. She deserves a normal life.”

Larry seemed pained a moment, even closing his eyes. “I will do what I can to get you the cure. But please fore swallowed hard. “For your mother’s sake, be careful.”

“You knew,” I said. “You knew she was my mother ”

“There are many secrets in this place,” Larry said. “Silence keeps me alive to do my work. I only want to help people, “140 stopped himself, shook his head. “Delta gave her life for you. Please be careful not to throw that away

He glanced at the door again, then gestured toward a spot under one of the chairs. “She had left something with you. I found it by the tree. I placed it there. Be cautious when you open it. Don’t let anyone see.”

There were so many questions I wanted to ask him. So many things I wanted to know that only he could tell me. He had been there then, and as a doctor, he likely knew things. About my parents. My father’s death.
