The Alpha's Unclaimed Mate (Jason and Laila) by Caroline Above Story novel Chapter 374

Chapter 374

This entire situation was frustrating beyond belief. Why did that oat Jason have to continually interfere in my plans? If it wasn’t for him, Laila would be dead, and things around here could go back to normal. And with her dead, the magic seal on the fortune’s location would finally break. I could finally have my money.

Gods knew I had earned it.

I had pushed for this fight, suddenly struck with inspiration. A one on one fight would be the perfect time for accidents to happen, for Jason to finally be taken off the board.

But now Larry was giving me crap about oaths he’s taken to do no harm. All I had asked him to do was inject Jason with a poison to make him weaker. I would handle the rest.

“I simply cannot,” Larry said. “I am a doctor. I cannot harm anyone.

“It’s not harming. I will be the one doing the harming.”

Larry shook his head. “I’m sorry, Alpha.”

That he would refuse a direct order from his Alpha was inconceivable. A flash of rage struck me so suddenly, that my vision went

stark white.

The servant approached. I grabbed the tray from her hand and flung it against the wall, the teapot and cups shattering, the tea staining the wall.

The servant stilled, startled, so I backhanded her, hitting her so hard that she flung backwards and down to the ground.

“Clean up the mess you made, you clumsy bitch,” I growled. Watching the servant scramble, a bruise already forming on her cheek filled me with pleasure. Bruises were such beautiful things. Inflicting them on others always seemed to calm me.

Larry, on the other hand, went white as a sheet. Good.

Returning my attention to him, I said, “Find a way to make Jason weak before the fight, so that I have no trouble winning and will prove my strength to my pack, or I will make your life hell, doctor. You’ve been around a long time. You’ve healed some patients I’ve made for you. You know what I am capable of. You know better than to stand against me.”

“I…” Larry seemed to struggle with words.

“Think on it,” I said. “I’m sure you will make the right choice. It would be a shame for a doctor so distinguished to be so disgraced.”

Larry swallowed hard, his mouth moving, wordlessly, like he was trying to form an argument but couldn

After a while, he hung his head, and I knew I had won.

Laila’s POV

That evening as Jason and I were preparing for bed, there was a knock on the door, startling us both. We’d both just changed into our pajamas. Jason had worked himself hard and had some ice backs on his arms. At the knock, we looked at each other, and he set aside the ice.

“Stay back,” he told me softly, and then moved to the door.

“Who is it?” he called through.

There wasn’t an answer, at least not verbally, just more knocking, sounding desperate now.

Jason stood in the way of the door, blocking whoever was there from seeing too far inside. Then, turning the handle slowly, he opened it a few inches.

I couldn’t immediately see who it was, but Jason stilled for only a second before opening the door even more. Then, at last, I could see as barry stumbled into our room. Jason hastily closed the door befined him.

Larry shuffled forward, barely able to stand on his own two legs, and he reeked of alcohol.

“What are you doing here, doctor?” I asked, approaching, “What’s going on?”

“Have you been drinking?” Jason asked, though we already knew the answer to that.

Larry fumbled into his pocket and then pulled out a vial. He crossed the room and placed it into my hands.
