Chapter 14: Who’s At The Door?
*MELENA*
Eutis and I looked at each other. I saw curiosity dancing in her green eyes, also eager to know who was
at her door.
She got up from the couch and headed towards the door.
I stood up and tried to move as quickly as possible to hide within the kitchen, but I fell to the ground flat on my face. Eutis saw what happened before leaving the living room and rushed back to assist me from the floor. She helped me into the kitchen before opening the door.
I still didn’t get the hang of walking within my human form. It was very difficult for me, not having walked
on two feet in ten years.
I listened to who it was as she opened the door.
“Good evening, Ms. Eutis,” I heard a strange man greet her.
“Evening, why are you here?” Eutis inquired strongly.
She knew who he was.
“Alpha Alexander wants to know if his prize is fine?” I heard him inquire of her.
“Prize!” I heard Eutis repeat, angrily.
Suddenly, I heard her slam the door, and it rang in my ears.
“Bang! Bang!” The man again knocked at the door.
“That bitch is already his, old shit,” the man shouted outside, until I heard him no more.
Eutis stormed into the kitchen. Her hands squeezed into a tight fist, angry as hell.
She then looked at me, terrified.
“I fear your life is in danger,” she informed me. Alexander the asshole, alpha, wants you, and he’s not going to let you go, unless…”
Suddenly, she stopped speaking and started biting her fingers. I stared at her as she thought hard.
She jumped in fright, and her eyes widened, looking at me, amazed at something.
“Only the leader of the Dark Shadow pack can help us,” she said excitedly, as she giggled happily.
1 shook my head, that will never work. No one can save me, only Mr. Death could, but it seems he wanted nothing to do with me in putting an end to my miserable life.
“Go…” I tried to talk to her.

I wanted to leave before Alexander, and that man returns. I wanted to get the hell out of there before it was too late. But I couldn’t within my human form. It was too risky, especially within a huge community like this. I could not go outside without being noticed by everyone.
I trembled as I thought about the men. What if they?
Suddenly, I found I was breaking down in tears. I didn’t want any man to see me like this. It would be too dangerous.
Eutis came closer to me, cupping my face.
“Don’t worry,” she tried to comfort me. “The Dark Shadow pack will protect you, I promised.”
I wanted to believe her. But I couldn’t. I didn’t know her. She was a stranger, and I didn’t know what she
was capable of.
