Jessi and I couldn’t help but giggle like little schoolgirls as we crept up the stairs with a special birthday breakfast for Kira.

Colt took Hunter out for a hunt this morning to celebrate his big birthday. Us women, on the other hand, will be doing something different.

“S**t!” Jessi whispered loudly as she tripped at the top step almost completely dumping Kira’s

breakfast.

I couldn’t help but laugh. She regained her footing and took a breath as we reached the door to

Kira’s room.

We nodded at each other and busted inside like she was in trouble.

She jumped up from her slumber with a loud gasp, long red hair covering her big green eyes.

She heard us bust out laughing and she groaned loudly, “Goddess, you scared the s**t out of me,

mom!”

Still laughing, I responded, “Happy birthday!”

Jessi yelled out from beside me right after, “Happy birthday!”

Kira brushed her hair out of her face, showing off her beautiful eyes and pale skin. Looking at her right now reminds me of me when I was her age. Her hair is not wild and untamed like mine was. I am jealous she got more of the straight hair like my mother.

“Is that food?” She asked as she laid eyes on Jessi.

“Well yeah, it’s your birthday breakfast!” Jessi exclaimed as she went over to Kira’s bed and set it

down.

Kira is quite a breakfast person. It’s her favorite meal of the day. Whatever breakfast meat we had she was down for as long as there was eggs and toast to go along with it.

White she ate, Jessi and I went over to her closet. Colt and I decided that we’d throw a big party for the kids tonight. Hunter has exceeded his Alpha training and Kira is top of her class in combat and archery. Not to mention, she’s also done quite well learning sewing, baking, cooking, food preservation, and everything that is expected of a luna to learn.

Granted, she will not be able to become the luna of Big Sky since Hunter will be the next Alpha, but the Moon Goddess did say that she was destined to mate with a great Alpha.

The thought of the Moon Goddess saddened me slightly. I haven’t seen her in 13 years since she saved my life and our pack. She said she’d be unavailable to us for a while, but she did say that she’d become available to me and Kira as she got older.

I was not expecting it to take this long. Honestly, I’m pretty sure something had to have happened

to her.

However, we’ve been doing just as she instructed.

I have been working with Kira on her abilities, she’s mastered them quite well. Well, she’s mastered the ones she’s able to do. It’s pretty hard to communicate with the Goddess when the Goddess is

gone.

On top of that, we did end up finding other packs along the Rockies, just like she said. We’ve banned together with them and created a vampire free life for many through the country. Nothing is ever going to be the way it was before for any of these packs, or any of the country, but we at least know we don’t have to worry about those blood suckers.

Other countries don’t appear to be as lucky. We have some packs that have decided to take the fight on to try to rid the whole world of vamps, but most have decided to try to create a life after

the vamps.

“Hello! Earth to Freya!” Jessi said as she waived her hand in front of my face. “The f**k did you go?

She said as she eyed me.

I shook my head and went back to looking through Kira’s clothes. I could feel her eyes on me still.

“I was just remembering everything we’ve gone through in life. Everything that lead us to this…” I said gesturing to Kira’s clothes.

“I was just going to wear this.” Kira said as she walked up behind us.

She held up a dark green dress that was long enough it would probably touch the ground. She’s built much like I am. Her hips and chest compliment the rest of her body when she wears clothes much like the dress she is holding up.

“Well put it on then!” Jessi said as she plopped down on Kira’s bed.

“I haven’t even showered yet. Let me at least shower.” Kira said laughing as she grabbed her clothes and walked out of her bedroom to the bathroom down the hall.

Jessi and I went down to the kitchen to grab more coffee as we waited for Kira. She popped her head out of her bedroom after she put the dress on.

“Are you going to come see, or what?” She hollered down.

We rushed up the stairs and walked into her room. She was stunning. She hadn’t even tried to fix up her hair or anything else for that matter, but she still looked absolutely beautiful in that dress.

I could feel the tears threatening to fall as I remembered my sweet little girl the first time I held her in my arms, or the first time we took her fishing. Now she’s grown up and could meet her mate

tonight.

“Oh mom, please don’t start crying already. I mean, I know it’s going to happen today but not this soon.” She laughed as she walked over and hugged me. “I bet dad hasn’t started crying with Hunter already.”

She’s right about that, but I’m a woman and I’m allowed to be emotional on my children’s 18th
