Introducing Maximus to my family felt very normal. I started with my mother of course. I’m pretty sure she would have literally killed me if I had introduced my mate to anyone but he first.

She went with us to introduce him to Hunter. Of course, Hunter knew Maximus since dad has been taking Hunter along with him anytime that he’s had to do anything Alpha related with other packs since he’ll be the next Alpha.

That didn’t stop Hunter from doing the protective big brother thing and asking questions that I

hadn’t even gotten to ask yet.

“You’re not going to hurt my sister, right?” He asked right off the bat.

I cringed instantly. That’s not something anyone is supposed to ask an Alpha of all people when it comes to their mates. When it comes to Alphas, they can do whatever they wish with their mates, and no one can do anything about it since an alpha cannot be rejected.

To my surprise, Maximus just laughed. “I wouldn’t dream of it. I’m just glad to have found my mate.

Then my dumb a*s speaks up, “How do you know? We haven’t even really spoken to each other yet. “I meant nothing by it, but I was pleasantly surprised by his response.

“The Moon Goddess doesn’t make mistakes. If you’re my mate, then you’re everything I’ll ever need.” He responded, taking my hand again.

Hunter was happy with that, but still needed to know, “With your marriage, would it be safe to assume that she’d have the freedom to visit as she pleases? You know, since your pack is close by

and all.”

I won’t lie; this was a question I had myself. However, Hunter has said more to my mate at this

point than I have.

The look on my newly found mate’s face changed. He looked down on me with a look of what I assumed to be regretful.

“Well…” He began, “I guess I hadn’t thought much about that since this just happened. I need my Luna to be more focused on our pack than her past.”

I could see Hunter was not happy with that answer, but at the same time I believe he understood

and respected that answer.

“However…” Maximus continued, “I don’t really see what harm could possibly come from visiting sometimes. I just need a loyal Luna by my side.”

I couldn’t help but smile at him. So far, I feel quite pleased with the mate the Moon Goddess chose for me. Like he said, I don’t believe that she makes mistakes.

As we all went to introduce my and Hunter’s mate, Olivia, to dad I couldn’t help but feel nervous. This wasn’t a nerve of whether or not dad would approve, it was more a nerve of knowing that this would be my last days at home. The reality of having to acclimate to a new pack set in, I’ve been preparing for it my entire life at this point but that doesn’t make this anymore easy.

Hunter began with a huge smile on his face, “Dad, I’d like you to meet our new Luna to be. This is

my mate, Olivia.”

Dad was very pleased. Olivia looked terrified. I guess I forget sometimes that the most powerful Alpha of the packs is my dad. Alpha Colt to everyone else is this big bad wolf whose Luna mate has special Goddess given abilities. To me, they’re just mom and dad.

After allowing Hunter the moment of glory to show off the Big Sky future Luna, I stepped forward

with Maximus.

Before I could open my mouth, my dad spoke, “Alpha Maximus.” He looked down towards me and

back to Maximus.

“So, you’re the great Alpha my daughter is meant to stand beside?” He asked, with a tone I couldn’t

quite place.

With a sense of pride Maximus responded, “Yes Alpha Colt. It looks like I am.”

For a moment, it looked like my father was going to disapprove. My stomach dropped before he finally gave me a big smile and laughed loudly.

“The purebred blood line will continue!” He roared as he grabbed Maximus and pulled him into a

hug. “Welcome to the family.”

I’m obviously confused. I know my parents said long ago that there were a few others out there that the vamps could have used to break their binding to the night, but I was unaware that any of

them still lived.

Maximus gave a bit of a pushed chuckle. When he looked at me, he could tell I was clearly confused by this statement my dad made.

He turned to me and answered my unspoken question, “My parents were the wolves the blood sucking bastards used to break the curse.”

The anger I felt in him at that moment pained me. We have only been mates for mere minutes and

already I could feel a hurt in this man that I have never felt.

As the night passed, the pain subsided. It was merely masked by the immense amount of mead that my dad, Hunter, and my mate consumed as they all celebrated the coming together of 3 packs with the upcoming marriages.

Olivia is the daughter of an Alpha from a pack I had never heard of,the Outsiders Pack. I am realizing that I need to study my packs a bit more now. I have studied many packs, the primary packs that my father has delt with in the past. However, I have not studied up on packs he hasn’t had dealings with.
