Chapter 336

Chapter 336

Chloe hesitated for a moment, turned to Eric, and said, “Eric, how about I go with Patrick?”

Chloe was dying to know whom Hanna and Gerardo had adopted.

Before she knew it, Friday had arrived.

It was Chloe’s first time stepping into the Jordan residence, and since she was invited to their party, she went out of her way to look her best.

“Chloe, you’re with my brother,” Mia said as she personally opened the car door for Chloe and nudged her into Ian’s car at the entrance.

Ian couldn’t take his eyes off Chloe, completely mesmerized by how stunning she looked, his grip on the lighter tightening.

Chloe felt a little awkward, but still called out, “Hey, Ian.”

After that awkward argument with Ian at Philip’s doorstep, Chloe hadn’t seen him since.

She’d originally agreed to ride with Mia.

But in the end, Mia still managed to nudge her right into Ian’s car.

Ian unfolded a blanket, gently draped it over Chloe’s legs, and then told Robert to start the car.

Seeing Ian being his usual self, Chloe gradually relaxed. She asked, “Do you know who Hanna’s new daughter is?”

Ian looked her straight in the eye. “Do you know?”

Chloe replied honestly, “I only know her last name’s Sherman.”

They looked at each other, and Ian’s face slowly went cold.

Chloe could tell from Ian’s reaction that he didn’t know either.

Astrid insisted that Hanna announce who her adopted daughter was right there at the party, and not even Eric knew any of the details.

Clearly, Astrid was seriously invested in this adopted girl.

At exactly eight o’clock, the limo rolled up in front of the Jordan residence.

Ian got out and personally opened the car door for Chloe.

Before Chloe could even step out, Eric walked over.

Not only Eric, but also Antonio and Hazel followed close behind.

Hazel called out, “Eric, it’s freezing out here. Hurry up and bring Mr. Hamilton and Ms. Irvine inside.”

Before Eric could say anything, Chloe cut in, “Mrs. Jordan, thank you, but Eric looks busy. I’ll head in with lan.”

All the big shots in Kingsford had shown up at the Jordan family’s reunion party.

Chloe knew she had to keep her distance from Eric, so people wouldn’t start talking.

Just then, Mia hooked her arm through Chloe’s, helping Chloe out of the awkward situation. “Come on,

Chloe, let’s head in together.”

Arm in arm, Mia led Chloe inside, with Patrick and Ian following close behind.

They hadn’t gone far when Antonio and Hazel each gave Eric a nudge.

Eric turned around.

Antonio teased, “Come on, man, sometimes you gotta swallow your pride. If you don’t make a move, you think she’s just gonna climb into your bed on her own?”

Hazel added, “She’s already here at your place. Use your head and see if you can get her to stay over

tonight.”

Eric let out a sigh.

Chloe was a girl with a mind of her own, definitely not someone he could easily coax or win over.

Just then, Jude came over and called out, “The party is about to start. Mom and Dad are asking for you guys inside.”

As soon as they stepped inside, Hazel made a beeline for Chloe.

She took Chloe’s hand and said, “Dr. Irvine, my grandmother’s been having trouble sleeping. Would you mind checking on her after the guests leave?”

Chloe couldn’t really say no. “Of course, Mrs. Jordan. I’ll stay and see her after the dinner.”

The Jordan family was famous for their medical expertise and compassion. Every member was both highly skilled and genuinely caring.

Even though Chloe wasn’t sure what Hazel was getting at, she couldn’t really refuse her request in front of

everyone.

Patrick, standing off to the side, couldn’t help but shoot lan a quick look.

Ian stood quietly next to Chloe, his gaze downcast, and no one could guess what was running through his

mind.

Just then, Gerardo began to speak, and the room quickly quieted down.

Everyone followed his gaze and saw a woman in a designer blue evening gown slowly coming down the

stairs from the second floor.

With the lights and her perfect makeup, she looked absolutely stunning, her aura impossible to ignore. Everyone started whispering, clearly impressed, “Who is she, anyway? Why did the Jordans suddenly

decide to adopt her?”

“I heard it was all Mrs. Astrid Jordan’s idea.”

“If the Jordans picked her, she’s gotta be a big deal.”

With everyone whispering, Andrea held up her gown and approached the Jordan family.

But some people recognized Andrea as Violet’s niece. “Isn’t she Violet’s niece?”

“Yeah, that’s her! I still had money left on my card at Violet’s salon, and then the place just shut down. I kept wondering where she went. Turns out she’s here!”

“I heard Violet was Mrs. Quinn’s best friend, but she stole Mrs. Quinn’s husband, got pregnant, and went into hiding.”

“If Violet could do that to her best friend, I bet her niece isn’t any better.”

“I heard Mr. Hamilton call the cops on her twice already. Violet cozied up to Mr. Quinn so he’d pull some strings and bail her out.”

The more the ladies gossiped, the louder they got, and Andrea just stood there, her hands fidgeting nervously, face burning with shame.

‘Good thing I have already filled in Mrs. Astrid Jordan, Hanna, and Gerardo on everything ahead of time, or these bitches really would’ve ruined everything for me,’ she thought.

Astrid cut in, her tone commanding. “Let’s keep this party moving. Everyone, quiet down.”

Hanna and Gerardo exchanged a glance, and Gerardo leaned in, speaking quietly to Astrid. “Mom, there’s no smoke without fire. Maybe we should just treat tonight as a welcome dinner, and I’ll look into things a bit more before we go ahead with the recognition.”

Astrid snapped, “Seriously? So now nobody listens to me?”

Gerardo let out a sigh and signaled for the party to continue.

Mia finally lost her composure. “Why her?”

Patrick gave her a gentle reminder. “This is the Jordan family’s party. Just watch and don’t mess around.”

Mia pouted, huffing, “Fine.”

When Chloe got a clear look at the woman’s face, her eyes automatically flicked to lan.
