Melanie’s POV
After work in the afternoon, I went home first to get the gift I’d prepared, then drove to Moira’s house.
Moira’s house wasn’t within the Razor Pack’s territory; it was in the city’s outskirts.
The scenery was nice, the environment was quiet–perfect for an elder–the only drawback being how far it was from the city
center.
It took me an hour and a half to drive there.
I parked the car and immediately heard Trista’s cheerful laughter.
Moira was facing the door, so she saw me first.
She immediately smiled and waved. “Melanie is here? Quick, come sit by me.”
My gaze swept over everyone. Only Moira was smiling. When Archer’s mother, Rebecca, and Skye saw me, the originally mild pheromones around them suddenly hardened.
They showed none of the reverence a Luna should receive.
As Alpha Archer’s family, they openly expressed their rejection.
I noticed it, but unlike before, I didn’t care. I pretended not to see.
I smiled, handed my gift to the omega who came forward, and walked towards Moira. “Moira.”
Moira smiled very happily, pulled me to sit down, and then frowned. “Why have you gotten so thin? Is Archer not treating you well?”
I lowered my eyes and shook my head. “No, I’ve just been busy lately.”
The answer was half–true. Archer hadn’t abused me, but my mood was always affected by him.
On top of that, I had been focusing on AI research after work for the past two weeks, often working until the early hours of the morning. That was another reason for my weight loss.
Before Moira could speak, Skye sneered, her tone laced with malice. “Listening to you, one would think your job is so important that the whole Atkinson Group couldn’t function without you.”
My fingers twitched. A steady aura belonging to a Luna quietly spread out. It wasn’t overpowering, but it was accurately aimed at Skye,
Although she was Archer’s older sister, she was only a beta and couldn’t withstand this kind of deterrence.
The smile on Skye’s face instantly froze, and her complexion paled slightly.
Rebecca, sitting nearby with her usual aristocratic grace, suddenly looked up. A sharper Alpha aura instantly emanated from her, enveloping the area like a net, precisely crushing my aura.
She said coldly, “If you find working at the Atkinson Group tiring, Just quit. No one is begging you to work there, anyway.” Shielded, Skye recovered and chimed in with a laugh, “Exactly! Some people just can’t bear to leave, though”
Moira couldn’t stand anyone speaking ill of me and was about to intervene, but I spoke first. “I’ve already submitted my resignation. Once the handover is complete, I’ll be leaving the Atkinson Group.”
Both Rebecca and Skye were stunned by this.

Moira frowned. “Melanie-”
“Is Mom here?” Trista’s voice broke the brief silence.
She looked genuinely happy to see me–after all, she hadn’t contacted me for over half a month.
She threw herself into my arms. “Mom!”
I was momentarily stunned. I gently hugged her, acknowledged her with an “Mhm,” and said nothing else.
Seeing Trista, Moira didn’t continue the topic. Instead, she smiled and said, “Melanie, I haven’t had your coffee in a long time. Will you make me a cup?”
“Of course. But it’s almost dinner time…”
Skye liked coffee but disliked seeing me show off my pour–over skills.
She quickly interjected, “That’s right! Archer and Erasmus will be back soon, and then dinner will start…”
Just as she finished, Archer returned.
He greeted Moira and Rebecca first. When he saw me, he only glanced before looking away, sitting on a single sofa far from me.
Trista saw Archer and immediately jumped out of my arms, running over. “Dad!”
“Mhm.” Archer hugged her. He was about to speak when Erasmus returned too.
Erasmus was significantly younger than Skye and Archer. He hadn’t reached adulthood yet and had a sunny, outgoing personality.
He leaped lightly after entering, vaulted over the back of a sofa, and landed steadily on the cushion.
Seeing the room full of people, he laughed. “Is everyone waiting for me?”
Skye patted his head. “We are, indeed. We’re all starving, waiting for you!”
