The Breaking Point of Mate: Giving Up on My Alpha novel Chapter 25

Chapter 25

Third Person’s POV

After Trista hung up, she figured Melanie would rush right home to make the food for her.

But she waited for over an hour, and by almost eight p.m., Melanie still wasn’t back.

Shannon worried Trista was hungry and tried to convince her, Since Luna Melanie is busy, why don’t you eat something else first?

No way!Trista pouted. Seeing Melanie hadn’t returned and hadn’t called, she was genuinely hurt.

She started crying, I only want food Mom makes!

Helpless, Shannon had to call Archer.

Archer took a minute to answer. What’s up?

Shannon explained the situation.

Archer just said, Put her on.

Trista took the phone, sobbing, Dad

Eat something first.

Trista wiped her tears, stubbornly staying silent.

Archer didn’t say anything either, and Trista started crying harder.

Archer’s voice was flat. I’ll take you out this weekend. You pick the place.

The sobbing instantly stopped. Seriously?

Yep. Go eat now.

Did you eat, Dad?

I’m at a business dinner.

Oh

Go eat.

Okay

Trista pouted but felt much better. She hung up and went downstairs to eat obediently.

When Archer got back to his private room, someone teased, Man, Archer, you get a lot of calls.

Archer took a sip of wine. My daughter was pitching a fit and wouldn’t eat. Just had to calm her down.

Everyone’s faces shifted. For years, there had been rumors Archer was married, but no one knew who his wite was said he wasn’t married at all.

Hearing him casually mention his daughter surprised a lot of people, but no one dared to ask more.

After dinner, Trista waited and waited for Melanie to come home.

It was past nine, she’d showered, and Melanie still hadn’t returned. Around ten, she heard a car, her eyes lit up, and she pattered downstairs. Mom-

Seeing Archer walk in, her voice cut off abruptly. Dad?

Archer handed his jacket to Shannon and didn’t miss Trista’s obvious disappointment. What’s wrong?

I thought Mom was back

Archer paused. She’s not home yet?

No

Archer said dismissively, She must be busy. Didn’t she promise to take you to school tomorrow? Just go to bed early. You’ll see

her tomorrow.

Trista cheered up a bit. Okay.

Upstairs, Archer went to his study to work. By the time he finished, it was nearly midnight.

He figured Melanie would be back, but the room was empty when he returned.

Guess something really big is going down with the Red Rose Pack,he thought, and walked into the bathroom without a second thought.

Melanie’s POV

The next day, I got up early, grabbed a quick bite, and drove off to take Trista to school.

As the car rolled into the familiar Razor Pack territory, I felt a little spaced out.

I lived here for nearly seven years. It’d only been three weeks since I left, but it felt like ages.

Nothing here had changed, but it all felt strange to me now.

Shannon saw me and hurried out to greet me. Luna Melanie, you’re back.

I paused but didn’t correct her title. I just answered and asked, Where’s Trista?

She’s probably still asleep.

Given the time, if Trista didn’t wake up soon, she’d miss breakfast,

But I didn’t plan on going upstairs. I just told Shannon to rush her a bit.

Shannon then said, Luna Melanie, have you had breakfast? It’s ready, why don’t you-

I smiled faintly and shook my head. It’s fine, I already ate.

Oh, I see

Just then, Archer came downstairs. I looked at him, didn’t say anything, and just gave a slight nod as a greeting

He paused, but before he could speak, Trista ran down and leaped into my arms.

I hugged her and ruffled her hair. It’s getting late. Go eat breakfast fast.

Mhm!

Trista pulled my hand. Eat with me,

Mom.

I didn’t move. I already ate, honey. You go ahead.

Trista wheedled, Then just come sit and talk with me.

I couldn’t argue with her, so I followed her to the dining room and sat across from Archer.
