The Breaking Point of Mate: Giving Up on My Alpha novel Chapter 33

Chapter 33

Third Person’s POV

Isaiah thought Elmer was about to cover for Melanie, so he raised his voice and cut him off. Mr. Boyd, I’m talking to Ms. Willis.

He locked eyes with Melanie, his tone becoming sharper. Is a simple question about your education difficult to answer, Ms. Willis? Why do you need Mr. Boyd to speak for you? Or is it that you haven’t actually finished your Ph.D.? Or maybe your school isn’t even highly ranked globally, so you’re embarrassed to say?

Melanie didn’t find the question hard to answer at all. She said calmly, I actually haven’t finished my doctorate yet, but-

She was cut off midsentence as Isaiah laughed, seemingly confirming his own suspicions. But? What are you trying to say? That even without a doctorate, your professional knowledge is just as good as ours? What gave you that illusion? Just because you have a pretty face and men have flattered you, you actually think you’ve got real skills?

Hearing that, Elmer completely lost his temper. Isaiah!

Reasonable questions were one thing, but Isaiah’s words were a direct insult to Melanie. Of course, he was furious.

Isaiah took off the ID badge hanging from his neck and slammed it onto the table. I quit.

Isaiah!Elmer hadn’t expected Isaiah to be so impulsive.

Isaiah looked at Elmer, his voice heavy with disappointment. Mr. Boyd, I always believed you were a person who valued talent and kept personal and professional lives separate. It seems I was wrong.

With that, he walked out.

Elmer, despite his anger, still valued their history. He looked at Isaiah’s retreating back and said, Just take some time to cool off. When you’ve thought things through and decide to come back, you’re welcome anytime—

No need. I won’t step foot in Hilltop Tech again!Isaiah left without looking back.

Melanie also placed a high value on talent and looked at Elmer, concerned.

Elmer shook his head, signaling her not to worry yet.

Isaiah was genuinely talented, and he hated to lose someone so capable.

However, he had noticed Isaiah’s intense attraction to Camille when he first met hera personal matter Elmer hadn’t paid much mind to.

But now, Isaiah was letting his emotions over Camille cloud his judgment, unfairly and negatively judging Melanie without any basis. That was too much.

Furthermore, the core CUAP technology involved a government contract, requiring a nondisclosure agreement, so Melanie’s true identity couldn’t be revealed.

Isalah was so easily provoked because of Camille, and he clearly placed her on a pedestal. Even if Melanie proved her abilities later, Isaiah might not truly believe it and would likely think Camille could have done better.

In the future, Melanie would inevitably surpass Isaiah. If Isaiah took that as Elmer favoring Melante, he could easily be manipulated.

If that day came, Isaiah wouldn’t just ruin his own career, he would cause significant losses for the company.

Seeing that Elmer understood the situation, Melanie felt reassured

Elmer looked at the rest of the staff Everyone, please relax. I guarantee Melanie’s professional ability is more than adequate. I stake my reputation on it.

Everyone in the office exchanged glances.

They knew Isaiah had recommended a friend to Elmer recently, though Isaiah hadn’t given them many details.

A situation similar to this had actually happened once last year.

That woman was the mistress of a highlevel executive. She was sweet, confident, and claimed to be a graduate student at a top American university with a solid foundation.

But in reality, she was clueless and didn’t even know some basic industry terms.

In the end, forget a top university; everyone suspected she hadn’t even finished college.

Now, the same dynamic was repeating itself, and Elmer had even replaced the highly qualified Camille for Melanie.

They understood why Isaiah was upset.

So, it wasn’t just Isaiah; others also felt Elmer was mixing business with his personal life this time.

Elmer saw their doubt but didn’t try to explain. He just asked, What projects was Isaiah currently handling?

Ainslie Francis, who worked with Isaiah, summarized the situation.

Elmer nodded and told Melanie, How about you take over Isaiah’s unfinished work for now?

Melanie had no problem with that. Sounds good.

Then, she greeted the others. I look forward to working with all of you.

The others smiled, politely acknowledging her. They knew working with hermight be a stretch. At this point, they could only hope Melanie was genuinely competent and wouldn’t dump everything onto them.
