The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 108

Aaron hadn’t expected her to bring that up again. He ran a hand through his hair in frustration, his tone sharp. “Didn’t I tell you she’s fine? Nora, are you ever going to let this go?”

“Is she?”

In contrast to Aaron’s agitation, Nora was so calm she was almost cold.

She stared at the man before her and said, word by word, “But… my mother has been transferred to another hospital.”

“Aaron, as my mother’s attending physician, you didn’t even know your patient was transferred?”

If it hadn't been for Aaron’s incompetence, for his complete lack of attention to her mother that allowed Leonard to take her away so easily, would she be in this position now?

Leonard had hidden her mother well; she still hadn't received any news.

That old fox wasn't going to hand her mother back so easily. In this chess match between father and daughter, she was at a complete disadvantage. Even if she could negotiate with Leonard, as long as he had her mother, her hands would always be tied.

The thought made Nora’s gaze turn even colder.

A clap of thunder seemed to strike Aaron. “What did you say?”

“Your mom was transferred? How is that possible?”

Aaron’s face turned pale. He stared at Nora, his lips trembling. “You’re lying to me, right?”

Nora remained silent.

Aaron’s heart sank to the pit of his stomach.

He frantically pulled out his phone and called one of his colleagues. “Lily, I’m asking about my mother-in-law—”

Before Aaron could finish, Lily cut in. “Dr. Wells, wasn’t your mother-in-law transferred to a better hospital? We tried calling you that day, but you didn’t answer, so we sent you a text.”

“Can’t talk, I’m busy right now. Bye, Dr. Wells.”

The line went dead. Aaron stood frozen, as if his soul had been ripped from his body.
