Unable to control herself, she leaned in closer. "I want to kiss your forehead. Can I?"
"You'll regret it."
The moment the words left his mouth, Alaina's soft lips pressed gently against his forehead before he could even process it.
It was a feather-light brush, but unbearably sweet.
Silas's pupils dilated in pure shock. His voice abandoned him instantly.
"I want to kiss your nose, too."
She murmured the request before dropping a fleeting kiss on the tip of his nose.
"And I really want to kiss your..."
She didn't finish the sentence before capturing his mouth with hers.
Silas closed his eyes, tilting his head slightly to deepen the connection—
"Mr. Summers, I got the medicine!"
Zachary burst into the room, shouting frantically. Realizing exactly what he had just walked in on, he slapped a hand over his eyes and whipped around.
Silas snapped back to his senses. Sitting up abruptly, he steadied the woman draped across him and ordered coldly, "Bring it here."
Hearing the command, Zachary scurried over, pretending desperately that he hadn't seen a thing as he handed over the medication.
Alaina swallowed the antidote and promptly collapsed against Silas's shoulder...
It felt like a wild, hazy dream. When she finally woke up, she found herself tucked into bed in her own room at the villa.
Looking down at her pajamas, a splitting headache suddenly ripped through her skull.
She clearly remembered sitting in the garden getting some air, but everything after that was a complete blackout.
She checked the time on her phone, silently thanking God it was Sunday, or she would have been horribly late for work.
