Alaina smiled and nodded, handing over the documents. "Help me organize these."
She turned and saw Michelle hadn't moved. "Michelle, why are you still here?"
"I'm not leaving," Michelle said, resting her chin on the edge of the desk. "I'm staying too. I handle logistics, so a little less sleep won't hurt me."
Owen walked over and grabbed all the documents. "I'll handle all of this. You go home and rest. Don't forget you've had surgery, you need to take care of your health."
Seeing she couldn't win the argument, Alaina relented. "Alright, you start on that. I'm just going to rest my eyes for a bit."
Owen nodded helplessly.
Alaina stretched her arms and stood up, intending to go to the pantry for some water, when her stomach suddenly began to ache.
Michelle noticed something was wrong and rushed over to support her. "Boss, are you okay?"
Her heart sank, and she whispered, "I'm fine, just get me to the hospital."
Harrington Memorial Hospital, Emergency Department.
Logan Foster rushed in, found Alaina's bed, pulled back the curtain, and asked anxiously, "Does it hurt a lot?"
Alaina shook her head. "It doesn't hurt anymore. It was just a minor cramp earlier."
Logan shot her a fierce glare. "How many times do I have to remind you? You are a patient! A patient! Working late into the night... do you have a death wish or something?"
"Alright, I was wrong," Alaina quickly apologized.
"Where is Silas? Did he come with you? I'm going to give him a piece of my mind," Logan said, putting his hands on his hips in anger.
"No. My colleague brought me," Alaina said, looking at him helplessly. "How many night shifts have you worked, Dr. Foster? Your temper is terrible right now."
Ignoring her, Logan snatched her phone and sent a voice message directly to Silas. "Mr. Summers, this is your wife Alaina's attending physician. She worked overtime until her stomach gave out, and now she's in the ER. Please get over here immediately."
Alaina clutched her stomach, afraid to move, and could only stare at Logan in speechless disbelief.
