After cursing, he drew a sharp dagger from his waist.
The blade gleamed with a deadly, icy light in the dim room, so sharp it almost hurt the eyes. "Then don't blame me for what happens next!"
He took a slow step toward Alaina, lazily twirling the dagger in his hand. He could end her life at any given second.
Alaina clenched her fists so hard her fingernails dug painfully into her palms.
She hadn't even checked a single item off her bucket list, and now she was going to die in this miserable place.
She was utterly terrified, her breathing turning shallow and frantic from panic, but she fiercely fought back her tears.
Just then, two of the other thugs stepped forward. "Boss, if we're gonna kill her anyway... it's a shame to waste a woman this pretty. Let the boys have a little fun first."
The scar-faced man's lips curled into a sickening, cruel smirk. "Make it quick."
He sat back down to enjoy the show.
A bone-deep chill washed over Alaina, and an overwhelming wave of dread consumed her entire body.
Out of the corner of her eye, she locked onto a gaping hole in the wall near the corner. Barefoot and desperate, she bolted toward it.
The thugs caught up to her in three massive strides. One of them grabbed her by the hair, dragging her back to forcefully handcuff her to an iron pipe.
He laughed vilely. "Aww, she looks pretty cute when she tries to run."
Alaina thrashed wildly. "Don't touch me! Get away from me!"
She screamed, her voice shaking with terror, violently kicking her legs to keep the men at bay.
The thug lunged and grabbed her ankle, yanking it ruthlessly.
Losing her balance, she pitched forward, her back slamming brutally into the iron pillar. The impact was so agonizing her vision went black.
The heavy-set thug took advantage of her daze, pinning her shoulders down with all his weight as his rough hands forcefully tore at her clothes.
The sickening sound of fabric ripping echoed sharply through the dead silence of the factory.
