The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 128

Every time, she just replied, "Give me a few more minutes."

It wasn't until a pair of large, distinctively elegant hands slammed flat over the documents on her desk that she noticed the wedding band gleaming on a long finger. She jerked her head up in surprise.

Silas stared down at her, his dark eyes freezing cold. "Starting tomorrow, the power in this specific office will be cut at five o'clock sharp."

Hearing that, Alaina was rendered entirely speechless.

"I'll pack this up for you, boss. I got it!" Michelle practically vaulted into the room, hurriedly grabbing Alaina's purse for her while shooting exaggerated winks in her direction. "Listen to the Boss! See how much he cares about you?"

Annoyed but out of options, Alaina had no choice but to follow Silas out the door.

Had she not stumbled upon him last night, she never would have guessed that the man striding so confidently ahead of her was nursing a brutal laceration on his back.

They exited the office building and waited for the car to pull around.

Alaina glanced around nervously and muttered, "If we keep coming and going together like this every single day, it's going to look really bad."

Silas turned his head, completely unfazed by her concern. "Right now, keeping you breathing is my only priority."

"Then I'd like to formally request permission to sleep in the lab. That way we avoid the back-and-forth commute entirely," she countered.

"Request denied," Silas rejected it without a microsecond of hesitation, fixing her with a dead-serious stare. "I need a lead researcher who can actually finish the project, not one who works herself into an early grave."

Speechless once again, Alaina pressed her lips into a thin line. When the black SUV finally rolled up, she silently slid into the backseat.

The car cruised smoothly down the avenue until the driver, Morris, suddenly spoke up. "Boss, we've got a tail. A car has been tracking us for the last few blocks."

Alaina's heart instantly leaped into her throat.

Silas studied the rearview mirror for a few seconds before stating calmly, "It's Ethan Harrington."

Hearing that name, Alaina blinked, her mind flooding with absolute confusion.

"If you want to see him, I can wait," Silas offered casually.
